The Obamas' Kwanzaa Message
Henry Percy
The President and First Lady have issued their Kwanzaa message:
Michelle and I extend our warmest thoughts and wishes to all those who are celebrating Kwanzaa this holiday season. Today [Dec. 26] is the first of a joyful seven-day celebration of African American culture and heritage.
The seven principles of Kwanzaa -- unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith -- are some of the very values that make us Americans.

The Media or Your Lying Eyes...The Return of Obama Gravitas
"Man, once surrendering his reason, has no remaining guard against absurdities the most monstrous, and like a ship without rudder, is the sport of every wind. With such persons, gullibility, which they call faith, takes the helm from the hand of reason and the mind becomes a wreck." --Thomas Jefferson

The Return of Obama Gravitas
By Stuart Schwartz
Gravitas -- what more can you ask for? Hence, the new year will bring renewed emphasis on the "brilliance" of Obama despite all evidence to the contrary. Never mind a presidency that has been "a striking failure"(American Thinker), a president whose direction of a "profligate Congress [that] carpet-bombs taxpayer dollars on greedy federal bureaucrats" (National Review), and a White House that offers "corruption" and "blatant disregard for the rule of law" (Judicial Watch)? Whom are you going to believe -- the media or your lying eyes? Read More

Bloomberg's Snow Job
Thursday, 30 December 2010 07:27 Daniel Greenfield
It's possible that Bloomberg's ideology fooled him into thinking that winter just wasn't coming this year. Back in 2008, he had compared Global Warming to the threat of terrorism, and focused the city's resources on buying into the eco-scam. Last winter, in response to his special Global Warming panel's alarmist claims of coastal flooding and higher temperatures in the city by 2080, the Mayor said, "We cannot wait until after our infrastructure has been compromised to begin to plan for the effects of climate change now."
And so last winter, instead of planning for the next winter, Bloomy began planning for the apocalyptic New York City of 2080, where everyone has to live on melted ice floes and battle for parking spots with marauding polar bears. Read More

Nullification in 2011!
Nullification: How to Resist Federal Tyranny in the 2lst Century
By Alan Caruba Tuesday, December 28, 2010
The great issue of our times is the same great issue of the 1830s. The question is whether Congress can pass legislation or the President issue executive orders that are not authorized by or consistent with the Constitution?
The federal government is a republic composed of separate and sovereign republics.
What recourse do the States have individually and in combination when the central government acts in a fashion that is contrary to the limits and enumerated powers of the Constitution?
The answer, other than an appeal to the courts, is nullification. This term is defined as the assertion that States can and should refuse to enforce unconstitutional federal laws.
This is no trifling matter.
In the past two years since the advent of the Obama administration, the federal government has seized control of one sixth of the nation’s economy, asserting control over the provision of healthcare.
It seized control of General Motors and Chrysler auto manufacturers, arbitrarily casting aside the rightful expectations of their bondholders and other creditors.
It has imposed absurd and invasive demands on air travelers.
It is considering a United Nations treaty that would render the Second Amendment null and void.
It has sued Arizona for enacting an immigration law that mirrors its own.
It is attempting through the FCC to assert control over the Internet.
In the 1860s the issue of state’s rights led to the Civil War.

Valerie Jarrett’s Plans for Obama in 2011
Published by Ulsterman on December 28, 2010 in Opinions
President Obama’s closest and most powerful political adviser plans to increasingly move Obama out of the Oval Office – and perhaps out of the way?
The latest rumors coming from inside The Beltway tell of top Obama administration adviser Valerie Jarrett, having successfully solidified her power within the Oval Office, giving indications President Obama will be spending even less time at the White House and more time in campaign mode in 2011. It has been repeated often that Obama cares far less for the job of governing than he does campaigning to govern, and it now appears Jarrett is going to give him ample time to do just that.
It is said Jarrett has convinced the president that much of the difficulties that led to Obama’s falling approval numbers among Americans since being elected in 2008 was that the president was not visible enough. Many even within the president’s own party likely feel such a claim is rather absurd given Obama’s seemingly unending television appearances and near non-stop campaigning throughout much of 2009 and 2010, as well as numerous (and costly) trips abroad for both himself and First Lady Michelle Obama, but it would appear Jarrett now wants even less of Obama around the White House in 2011. This past weekend Jarrett told Meet the Press the president intends to be engaging the American people far more in the coming year. In an example of unintended irony, Jarrett disclosed that the president had told her just prior to leaving for vacation in Hawaii this past week that when he gets back from vacation he wants to really figure out how to spend less time in Washington DC.
There also appears to be a disconnect within the Obama West Wing, with Press Secretary Robert Gibbs recently stating there will be few staff leaving the Obama White House in 2011. (An interesting comment given the already significant exodus of staff that took place in 2010, as well as persistent rumors of his own imminent departure in 2011.) Counter to Gibb’s recent assertions, DC Insiders are giving strong indications a significant shift is coming within the administration. Just this week a strong rumor of Hillary Clinton’s departure as from the State Department was bantered about. It has already been confirmed David Axelrod and Robert Gates are making quick exits away from the Obama White House in the coming weeks and months.
Valerie Jarrett then remains the seeming de facto President, particularly if President Obama is intent, as his own words appear to confirm, to campaign rather than govern througout 2011. Jarrett’s now open support for Obama’s absence from the White House would appear to substantiate the claims by certain DC Insiders that she is in fact, the real power within the administration. A related story tells of a meeting between Hillary Clinton and Jarrett earlier in the year in which Jarrett demanded to know of Clinton’s intentions in 2012. What Clinton specifically told Jarrett is not entirely known – but the relationship between the two powerful women has apparently become increasingly wary, with Jarrett constantly reminding President Obama the former First Lady cannot be trusted.
As for the President? He appears content with the Jarrett plan of less hands on governing and more travels outside of Washington DC, leaving the political heavy lifting to those more willing to do so. In effect, America has a president already campaigning for a second term in a job he increasingly appears not to want.
Strange days indeed…

Food safety bill invokes Codex harmonization and grants FDA authority to police food safety of foreign nations

Of all the talk about S.510, virtually no one has actually read the language in the bill -- especially not those lawmakers who voted for it. The more you read from this bill, the more surreal it all becomes. For example, did you know there's a global FDA power grab agenda hidden in the Food Safety Modernization Act? Keep reading and I'll quote text straight out of the bill itself. Read More

2011-The Seeds Of The Revolution Will Be Sown
Top Trends Of 2011

KINGSTON, NY, 28 December 2010 — After the tumultuous years of the Great Recession, a battered people may wish that 2011 will bring a return to kinder, gentler times. But that is not what we are predicting:
1. Wake-Up Call The people of all nations, having become convinced of the inability of leaders and know-it-all “arbiters of everything” to fulfill their promises, will do more than just question authority, they will defy it. The seeds of revolution will be sown….
2. Crack-Up 2011 In 2011, with the bailout funds and arsenal of other schemes to prop up the economy depleted, teetering economies will collapse, currency wars will ensue, trade barriers will be erected, economic unions will splinter, and the onset of the “Greatest Depression” (a trend we forecasted before the massive bailouts existed) will be recognized by everyone….
3. Screw the People As times get even tougher and people get even poorer, the “authorities” will intensify their efforts to extract the funds needed to meet fiscal obligations. While there will be variations on the theme, the governments’ song will be the same: cut what you give, raise what you take….
4. Crime Waves No job + no money + compounding debt = high stress, strained relations, short fuses. In 2011, with the fuse lit, it will be prime time for Crime Time. As Gerald Celente says, “When people lose everything and they have nothing left to lose, they lose it.” And “lose it” they will….
5. Crackdown on Liberty As crime rates rise, so will the voices demanding a crackdown. A national crusade to “Get Tough on Crime” will be waged against the citizenry. And just as in the “War on Terror,” where “suspected terrorists” are killed before proven guilty or jailed without trial, in the “War on Crime” everyone is a suspect until proven innocent….
6. Alternative Energy In laboratories and workshops unnoticed by mainstream analysts, scientific visionaries and entrepreneurs are forging a new physics incorporating principles once thought impossible, working to create devices that liberate more energy than they consume. What are they, and how long will it be before they can be brought to market?
7. Journalism 2.0 2011 will mark the year that new methods of news and information distribution will render the 20th century model obsolete. With its unparalleled reach across borders and language barriers, “Journalism 2.0” has the potential to influence and educate citizens in a way that governments and corporate media moguls would never permit….
8. Cyberwars In 2010, every major government acknowledged that Cyberwar was a clear and present danger and, in fact, had already begun. The demonstrable effects of Cyberwar and its companion, Cybercrime, are already significant – and will come of age in 2011. Equally disruptive will be the harsh measures taken by global governments to control free access to the web, identify its users, and literally shut down computers that it considers a threat to national security….
9. Youth of the World Unite University degrees in hand yet out of work, in debt and with no prospects on the horizon, feeling betrayed and angry, young adults and 20-somethings are mad as hell, and they’re not going to take it anymore. Not mature enough to control their impulses, the confrontations they engage in will escalate disproportionately….
10. End of The World! The closer we get to 2012, the louder the calls will be that “The End is near!” Among Armageddonites the actual end of the world, and annihilation of the Earth in 2012, is a matter of certainty. Even the rational and informed may sometimes feel the world is in a perilous state. Both streams of thought are leading many to reevaluate their chances for personal survival, be it in heaven or on earth….
11. The Mystery Trend … will be revealed upon publication of the Trends Journal in mid-January.

Political Psychology- Liberals Making Moral Amercans Infidels
December 28, 2010
Political Psychology
By Deborah C. Tyler
To understand why liberals have lost the presumption of decency in Americans -- after all, they're constantly calling us racists, bigots, homophobes, xenophobes, religious clingers, and stupid -- you need look no farther than the American Psychological Association (APA). For the last sixty years, the APA has been cooking up an atheist/humanist vision that contradicts traditional American faith and values -- and using the banner of science to do it.
An earlier article for American Thinker, "Profiling the Psyclops," looked at the philosophy underlying the APA's mission to "re-norm" America to atheistic/humanistic values. This article looks at one way in which the APA is trying to implement that mission. Read More

The Missing Link in the Evolution of Barack Obama...The Manchurian Candidate

The Missing Link in the Evolution of Barack Obama
By Selwyn Duke
Let's now transition to the actual. Here is a fact: If you took the above description of my hypothetical leader and replaced "Nazi" with "communist," "flat-out Nazi" with "flat-out Marxist-Leninist," "Brownshirt tactics" with "communist revolution," "white-power" with "black-power," "National Socialist" with "socialist," and "Adolf Hitler" "with Mao Tse-tung," you would have an accurate description of a leader in power today.
His name is Barack Obama.
One of the problems with the idea of "American exceptionalism" is that it exacerbates a kind of complacency common to man. This is the phenomenon whereby people often view themselves as exceptions -- saying, after some tragedy, for instance, something such as "I never thought it could happen to me."
On a national level -- and this especially plagues great nations -- this manifests itself in the notion that "it" could never happen here. Oh, the "it" could be descent into tyranny, domination by a foreign power, or dissolution. Or maybe it could be the election of a leader who is a Manchurian candidate, a traitor within, someone bent on destroying the nation that gave him everything. That..."it"...couldn't happen here. In fact, the idea is so preposterous to many Americans that if such a threat loomed, they would never see it coming. And they would call a person who warned of it a nut.
So I want to present you with a hypothetical. Let's say a leader were elected who had, during his childhood, been mentored by an avowed Nazi. Let us further say that his guardians had chosen this mentor for him, indicating that they were likely sympathetic to the man's beliefs. Now, let us say that upon reaching college, this future leader gravitated toward Nazi professors. Moreover, we then find out that a man who knew the leader as an undergraduate and was, at the time, a Nazi himself, said that the leader was "in 100-percent total agreement" with his Nazi professors and was a flat-out Nazi who believed in old-style Brownshirt tactics. Obama Destined to Be a Footnote in Presidential History
December 27, 2010
By Rusty Weiss
Barack Obama has set a course that will leave his legacy as no more than a footnote in American presidential history. For all of the bluster and glory, for all of the pomp and circumstance, and yes, for all of the anticipated hope and the promised change, the whirlwind of hype and expectation surrounding the president a mere two years earlier has virtually dissolved.
He was the man destined to save this country from his predecessor's failures. He was the man who would end the war in Iraq, finish the war in Afghanistan, and shut down the prison at Guantánamo Bay. He was the man charged with rescuing the faltering American economy. He was the man who would usher in a post-racial era in an allegedly inherently racist American society. And he was the man who had been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize based not on tangible accomplishment, but simply upon these very expectations.
On all of these accounts, President Obama has been a striking failure. Read More

Obama Has Lost the World
Sunday, 26 December 2010 15:51 Daniel Greenfield
After the 2010 elections, it's not exactly news that Obama has lost America. But in a less public referendum, he also lost the world. Obama's cocktail party tour of the world's capitals may look impressive on a map, but is irrelevant on a policy level. In less than two years, the White House has gone from being the center of world leadership to being irrelevant, from protecting world freedom to serving as a global party planning committee.
Even the Bush Administration's harshest critics could never have credibly claimed that George W. Bush was irrelevant. He might have been hated, pilloried and shouted about-- but he couldn't be ignored. However Obama can be safely ignored. Read More

My Conversation with God...By Bob Weir

My Conversation with God
By Bob Weir
I was sitting alone in my room the other day, and I had a talk with God.
Me: "God, why is there so much strife in the world?"
God: "My son, I programmed my children to be complex beings beset by challenges and struggles which would strengthen them and force them to work out the problems of their existence in order that they be worthy of their own complexity."
Me: "But why did you make us to be so belligerent toward each other? Couldn't you have simply made us love each other?"
God: "Love is inherent in all my children, but its value must be discovered and appreciated. Otherwise, it would be taken for granted and ignored like an abundance of toys in the hands of a spoiled child. Love, like life, must be earned through suffering."
Me: "With all the power in the universe, you could, with a wave of your hand, make everyone deliriously happy. Why should we have to deal with any sadness?"
God: "Without the experience of sadness, you would not appreciate happiness. Without the knowledge of pain, you couldn't understand pleasure. Food is most satisfying when you are at your hungriest."

Who He Is...very powerful words

Who He Is
By Vasko Kohlmayer
Some two thousand years ago, the man whose birthday we celebrate during this season was walking with his disciples through a region which is today known as the Golan Heights. As they were making their way through those hilly parts, Jesus turned to his companions and asked "Who do people say that I am?"
The disciples told him that many ideas as to his identity: "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
Things have not changed much in the intervening two millennia. Today, as then, people hold many notions about who Jesus was. Some say that he was a great moral teacher, others that he was a bold social reformer. Still others claim that he was a wise man or a charismatic leader. If you asked ten different people, it is quite possible that you would get ten different answers.
To get at the truth, we can do no better than to go to the ultimate source and authority on Jesus's life. None of the statements below is a conjecture or a fanciful invention; they all come straight from the Word.
What follows is the Jesus of the Bible. Read More

Vermont drafts food sovereignty resolution to protect health, food freedom
Friday, December 24, 2010 by: Jonathan Benson, staff writer
(NaturalNews) In response to the recent passage of "food safety" bills S. 510 and corresponding H.R. 2751, the Vermont Coalition for Food Sovereignty has drafted its own resolution called "The Vermont Resolution for Food Sovereignty." Crafted to declare and protect the food and health freedom rights of all Vermont citizens, the resolution is essentially a warning to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that it does not have jurisdiction over the food choices of the People of Vermont. Stopping Obama: A Republican Game Plan

Barack Obama may have had a licking, but he keeps on ticking. How will the new Congress deal with a president who is relentless in his agenda to create a transformed America?
Obama is on a mission to advance a far-left agenda, and he will use all means at his disposal to accomplish his goals. "The end justifies the means" is his modus operandi. Read More

It could be the biggest crisis since the collapse of the housing market.
That’s how experts are describing state budgets, which are becoming so spend-heavy that municipalities are now drowning in debt and unrealistic spending obligations.

The Cave – How Man is Controlled
One of the best books I have ever read. It opened my eyes to the fact that Life is truly and Illusion. A delightful light read!
The following is a much heavier illustration of what has been known for such a very long time.
The Allegory of the Cave – also known as the Analogy of the Cave, Plato’s Cave, or the Parable of the Cave – is an allegory used by the Greek philosopher Plato in his work The Republic to illustrate “our nature in its education and want of education”.
Socrates describes a group of people who have lived chained to the wall of a cave all of their lives, facing a blank wall. The people watch shadows projected on the wall by things passing in front of a fire behind them, and begin to ascribe forms to these shadows. According to Socrates, the shadows are as close as the prisoners get to viewing reality. He then explains how the philosopher is like a prisoner who is freed from the cave and comes to understand that the shadows on the wall are not constitutive of reality at all, as he can perceive the true form of reality rather than the mere shadows seen by the prisoners.
Solstice-eclipse overlap first in 456 years
OTTAWA — This year's winter solstice — an event that will occur next Tuesday — will coincide with a full lunar eclipse in a union that hasn't been seen in 456 years.
The celestial eccentricity holds special significance for spiritualities that tap into the energy of the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year and a time that is associated with the rebirth of the sun.

Constitutional Judo...An Excellent Article...Well Worth The Read
An Excellent Article...One of the best I have read so far while traveling on this oh so dangerous road.
"Many Americans often assume that ‘the people’ derive their power from the Constitution, but the reality is actually reverse; the Constitution, in fact, derives its power from the people. Our duty (which some have forgotten) has always been to protect the rights and liberties inscribed on those pages of parchment. Not just to know those rights, or recite them, but to implement and defend them in our day-to-day existence. Without the constant nurturing cultural pulse of sound minds and courageous hearts, the Constitution dies."
By Giordano Bruno
Neithercorp Press – 12/15/2010
In all things, there exists a ‘point of balance’; a line that, if crossed, results in the sudden and expedient loss of our self-determinism and makes us subservient to the fickle whims of social, political, and physical gravity. We are “thrown” into the air, as it were, and the landing is rarely ever pleasant. The U.S. Constitution and the civil liberties it outlines is itself one of these historic points of balance. Its original purpose was to temper the most epic of grappling matches ever ignited; between the relentless constructs of government, and the individual freedoms of the common man. The ultimate problem inherent in this struggle is one of consistency, vigilance, and labor…

Limbaugh: ‘Maybe the Real Terrorists We Face Are on Capitol Hill’
The Blaze

On Wednesday, Rush Limbaugh was still fired up over the GOP being called “hostage takers” by the president last week. So, he threw out some analogies of his own, comparing Democrats to “Al Capone” and “gangsters.” But he didn’t stop there — he went on to wonder if Democrats on the Hill are the real “terrorists.”

The sky is not falling, Obama’s fairytale is
Having grown up in Berkeley, Ca during the 40s, 50s, and 60s I know all too well the transition from Howdy Doody to Flower Power. Thank God I was married and having children in the 60s or I would have accidentally nosed dived off a balcony during some drug induced “oh I’m having fun now” time. During my lifetime I have traveled the road of conservatism to liberalism and now back to conservative individualism.

Even with Al Gore in a sort of forced semi-retirement, a Chicken Little Sky is Falling atmosphere still hovers over America.
The atmosphere is sustained because the Marxists in the White House are blowing big smoke rings at the outside world and slapping down red herrings at every available door.
It must be the most supreme insult to Marxist ego that most folk are too busy striving to make a living and trying to stay afloat to pay close attention to their latest scare tactics. Read More

Obama: Pawn or Mastermind?
By Tom Roberson
Obama's detractors seem to believe he is either an incompetent pawn in over his head as president or an evil mastermind directing an international conspiracy to subvert America.
The fact is that Barack Hussein Obama II was an Illinois state senator of little notice or importance who managed to win election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, where he remained undistinguished. Obama has benefited from staged rhetorical skills dependent on the availability of a teleprompter and the perception that he embodied the culmination of left-wing values in an electable package. As his presidency has progressed, his lack of experience and basic knowledge of the political process have been on full display for all to see. Read More

Tell me something I don’t know. The big take-away that people are getting from this is how they want to take over the media. We already know that Al Not-So-Sharpton is meeting with the FCC soon to put pressure on them to create new ways of regulating talk radio for the explicit purpose of taking down Rush Limbaugh. It’s all about baby steps, and this is one of them. Once the new regulation is in place, then they will use it against those whoever they want to shut down, like Rush, Hannity, Levin, Beck, and so on. And part of that process will be figuring out a way to regulate cable, i.e. Fox News, so they can do the same with that. Read More

I think John Podhoretz hit it right on the money: he called the president's press conference yesterday, "one of the most bizarre political events of my lifetime."
Somehow, I don't think the Democrats disenchanted by his policy choices over the past couple of days are going to be in a coronating mood after Obama furiously upbraided them in ad hominem language of a kind we may never before have heard from a president.Had he followed their counsel and refused to deal with the GOP, he said, "We [would] be able to feel good about ourselves, and sanctimonious about how pure our intentions are and how tough we are." The American Dream
For years, people have been laughing at the horrific economic decline of Detroit. Well, guess what? The same thing that happened to Detroit is now happening to dozens of other communities across the United States. From coast to coast there are formerly great manufacturing cities that have turned into rotting, post-industrial war zones. In particular, in America's "rust belt" you can drive through town after town after town that resemble little more than post-apocalyptic wastelands. In many U.S. cities, the "real" rate of unemployment is over 30 percent. There are some communities that will start depressing you almost the moment you drive into them. It is almost as if all of the hope has been sucked right out of those communities. (Read More.....)
American Thinker: Obama's Blind Spot
Despite the Democratic Party's 2010 election "shellacking," President Obama recently asserted that the election had nothing to do with ideology. He said, "It would be unwise to assume [that American voters] prefer one way of thinking over another." This attitude is consistent with the president's previous actions and statements. He still doesn't understand that the public is outraged at what Victor Davis Hanson, in National Review, called his "EU-socialist agenda." The people's anger stems from Obama's so-called solutions, radical political appointees, and his health care reform program that threatens to bankrupt the nation, not -- as he famously contends -- from him not delivering "change" as fast as he promised. In fact, Obama views the election primarily as a message to Republicans to be more bipartisan and cooperative; to date, he has never acknowledged that voters repudiated his policies and the direction in which he wants to take the country. Just months after a leaked UN blueprint that revealed climate change alarmists would start pushing “overpopulation” fears in favor of the discredited mantra of global warming as a means of dismantling the middle class, billionaire globalist Ted Turner followed suit during a Cancun luncheon yesterday when he urged the world to adopt China’s brutal one-child policy, and even suggested poor people should be sterilized in return for government handouts. Don’t Look, Don’t Read: Government Warns Its Workers Away From WikiLeaks Documents
WHAT A JOKE!
WASHINGTON — In a classic case of shutting the barn door after the horse has left, the Obama administration and the Department of Defense have ordered the hundreds of thousands of federal employees and contractors not to view the secret cables and other classified documents published by Wikileaks and news organizations around the world unless the workers have the required security clearance or authorization.
“Classified information, whether or not already posted on public websites or disclosed to the media, remains classified, and must be treated as such by federal employees and contractors, until it is declassified by an appropriate U.S. Government authority,” said the notice sent on Friday afternoon by the Office of Management and Budget, which is part of the White House, to agency and department heads, urging them to distribute it to their staff. The International Banking Cartel is the New World Order
This article fully and clearly explains what Aaron Russo describes in his documentary titled America: Freedom to Fascism. It is all about CONTROL.
Wake the Herd
July 23, 2009
My belief in the existence of the New World Order centers around the activities, actions and writings of the members of the elite (mostly Anglo-American) inside the international banking cartel - which of course includes the Rockefeller and Rothschild families – over roughly the last century.
This cartel, through their financing of two World Wars; the revolutions of Lenin/Stalin and Hitler, among others; the creation of the IMF, World Bank and other private "central banks" like the Federal Reserve and the Bank of England; as well as their backing of international organizations like the United Nations, World Health Organization, World Trade Organization has sought to control not only the purse strings of the governments of the world, but also the policies, laws and programs that those governments and agencies implement.

That’s not news right there – you know that, right. C’mon, admit it, the media should have destroyed Obama’s campaign right there. We all thought they would. We should have been done. WSJ: Food safety bill a corporate welfare program?
posted at 11:36 am on December 2, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
And when the Wall Street Journal complains of corporate welfare via regulatory expansion, it’s worth noting. In an editorial today scolding the GOP for playing ball on S510, the food-safety bill that Harry Reid pushed as part of his desperate lame-duck agenda, the WSJ’s editors notes that the expansion of FDA powers and especially its mandatory recall authority will disproportionately impact smaller growers, especially in the House version, which is why the larger corporations didn’t put up much of a fight (via The Week): Read More

The deficits we face are a dagger pointing at the heart of the American economy
By Mortimer B. Zuckerman
Posted: November 29, 2010
Myopic self-indulgence. It is nearly a century since that gloomy German mathematician and philosopher Oswald Spengler published his 1918 classic The Decline of the West.
His thesis was that civilizations had an underlying trajectory, an organic rise and fall; his metaphor was to compare the stages of this process to the stages of our seasons—but seasons of many centuries. In the 19th century we were, he suggested, in the winter of the West, witnessing the triumph of materialism, socialism, and money and that the era of individualism, liberty, and humanitarianism was nearing its end.
Among Spengler's convictions was that money, instead of serving mankind, would betray the Western civilization as it had others—and money in politics and media especially.
Demography is destiny. As a result, there is a burgeoning consensus that we are witnessing an inevitable rise of the East and a decline of the West.
