Arrogant and Authoritarian: Barack Obama and the New Progressives

Arrogant and Authoritarian: Barack Obama and the New Progressives
By Chuck Rogér

Blindness to physical reality, denial of human nature, and a consuming desire to use government force to impose fantasies on fellow human beings. Welcome to the mind of today's American "progressive."

Progressives veil sophomoric schemes in eloquent verbiage. Barack Obama's mastery of the technique got him elected president. Sixty-nine and a half million Americans would not have voted for Obama had he failed to conceal the differences between his campaign spiel and the contents of his heart.

Convinced of the goodness of their intentions, ideologues like Obama mistake tyranny for noble action. And to achieve their noble objectives, today's progressives bend the truth far more than did predecessors like John Dewey, Woodrow Wilson, and FDR. Yet Obama has increasingly adopted a more direct modus operandi since becoming president. The "centrist" disguise has disintegrated.

Progressivism initially appeared on the American scene in response to problems that cried for solutions. Peter Berkowitz describes the movement's birth.  Read More

The Media Has Declared... WAR!

The Media Has Declared... WAR!
By John Fricke

Newsrooms and hospitals have one major thing in common: the "hush" is the loudest thing anyone ever hears. The "hush" is the moment when normal activity stops cold for an announcement of major events that will entirely reshape any usual activity. While both newsrooms and hospitals stop on that kind of news -- and then, following it, race into a whirlwind of overdrive -- the similarities end there.

Hospitals gird for the incoming and the flood of bad news to follow; most newsrooms do not. In a newsroom, tragic events are met with a different vibe: an electric jolt that energizes the room with a sense of self-importance.

The shot of adrenaline that surges through a newsroom is fascinating to watch. After the initial rush, the newsroom is never satisfied. There is a reason why the term "news junkie" exists; there is always the next twist, the next piece of fresh information, the next set of numbers (think of the alcohol shots of "news" that an election night provides with its changing and evolving big story).   Read More

Timeline of recent mysterious bird, fish deaths

(NaturalNews) The recent mysterious deaths of birds and fish are causing alarm among naturalists around the world. Birds are literally falling dead out of the sky, and fish are washing up dead on shores and rivers across North America and around the world. The reaction from the mainstream media seems strangely subdued, as if they're all just blowing this off as some unexplained quirk about the natural world that should be largely ignored.

NaturalNews readers think differently. We are concerned when thousands of dead birds fall out of the sky for no apparent reason. The sky itself may not be falling, but previously live animals are clearly falling out of it. If that's not enough reason to wonder what the heck is happening to our planet, then what is?

These are clear signs that something is wrong. Red flags from nature, if you will. Here's the timeline of recent deaths that have been reported:  Read More

Green Tea health benefits better than previously thought

Green tea better at preventing cancer and dementia than previously thought

Wednesday, January 12, 2011 by: S. L. Baker, features writer

(NaturalNews) For years, NaturalNews has covered the mounting research linking green tea and its extracts to a host of disease-fighting benefits -- from halting the progression of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (http://www.naturalnews.com/029055_l...) and reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease to protecting the oxygen-deprived brain from memory loss (http://www.naturalnews.com/023375_g...) and preventing breast cancer (http://www.naturalnews.com/025687_g...). It almost sounds too good to be true, right? Actually, a new study has revealed that green tea is an even more incredible natural health enhancer than anyone knew previously.   Read More

The Impact of the Food Safety Modernization Act

How the Food Safety Modernization Act will destroy American jobs, farms and local foods.

Editor of NaturalNews.com

How will the new Food Safety Modernization Act actually impact small, local farmers who grow food for CSA's, local restaurants and grocers? To find out, I took a road trip to Texas and interviewed several small, local farmers to ask them, face to face, how the S.510 Food Safety Modernization Act would impact them.

I spoke to Farmer Brad from HomeSweetFarm.com and captured the conversation on video. You can watch it here:  http://naturalnews.tv/v.asp?v=3F59F

Here's a quick excerpt from our conversation about S.510 and the small farm exemption in the Tester Amendment:

Farmer Brad: To me, that's so un-American to say hey, you're going to stay in this box, and you can never grow your business bigger than that. $500,000 [in revenue] is your cap.

Health Ranger: It's destroying farming jobs.

Farmer Brad: It has made us start to totally re-look at our business plans and how we're going to sell our food. We're no longer going to sell wholesale, no longer going to sell to chefs or restaurants, it's consumer direct only.   Read More

When news broke that a flight crew called the cops on Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington over her refusal to turn off her BlackBerry while in flight, the story included a buried reference to the fellow passenger who was angry enough to confront her about it. Now, that passenger is speaking up and explaining why he was so upset: he was afraid for his safety.  Read More

Forget about Economic Recovery in 2011

Forget about Economic Recovery in 2011
By Monty Pelerin

The new year unfailingly raises spirits, even for those who don't imbibe. It represents a clean slate, a new start, and a time to make resolutions to improve ourselves and our lives. It is a time for renewal.

Economists and politicians are not immune to optimism. Many economists project wonderful things for the coming year. Likewise, Republican political pundits are especially ebullient, anticipating major political changes. Unfortunately, these expectations are no more realistic than our personal resolutions, and they have similar shelf-lives.

The Economy

The year 2011 begins with the government-driven mantra that a recovery is under way. "The Recovery Summer" was accompanied by similar fanfare, only to become the subject of late-night TV jokes. The 2011 recovery meme will be as valid and fleeting as that of its predecessor.  Read More

Starting Tuesday, customers should bring bags to markets

January 10, 2011 - By MELISSA TANJI, Staff Writer

WAILUKU - From grocery stores to toy stores, businesses beginning on Tuesday will no longer be giving out plastic bags to their customers. The county's plastic bag ban takes effect then, following a long publicity campaign.

Last week, businesses and county officials were busy preparing for the ordinance to take effect.

Jerry Masaki, general manager at Pukalani Superette, said he has banners hanging outside his store along with posters inside and employees wearing buttons to remind customers of the change and to encourage them to bring in their recyclable bags.  Read More

Who Needs the Constitution Anyway?

Daniel Greenfield

From all the outrage over congress opening with a reading of the Constitution, you would have thought that the Republican party was proposing to outlaw green labels on household products, put up a fence made entirely of snarling dogs across the Mexican border, and haul Obama off to Gitmo. Even an upcoming attempt to repeal the Obama Care monstrosity, hasn't generated nearly as much outrage as a reading of the United States Constitution.  Read More

Don’t Exploit My Daughter’s Death To Revoke Freedoms

Classy Father Of 9-Year-Old Victim: Don’t Exploit My Daughter’s Death To Revoke Freedoms

Prison Planet.com
Monday, January 10, 2011

What a classy, brave and thoughtful individual John Green is – father of the 9-year-old girl murdered by Jared Loughner – Green contradicts the distasteful rush to exploit Saturday’s tragic events as a vehicle through which to eviscerate the 1st and 2nd Amendments.

Speaking to Fox News, Green labeled Loughner’s rampage a “random act” and said that the death of his daughter should not be exploited to revoke freedoms.

Speaking on the subject of how travel became a nightmare after 9/11, John Green said, “We don’t need any more restrictions on our society,” as a consequence of the shootings, and said that tragic events such as those that led to the murder of his daughter was the price Americans have to pay for freedom.
