MUBARAK STEPS DOWN – Egyptians Celebrate

Friday, February 11, 2011
Posted by Jim Hoft

It’s February 11- Hosni Mubarak stepped down.
This is the same day that the Shah’s regime was forced from office in 1979.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stepped down today.

The AP reported:

Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak resigned as president and handed control to the military on Friday, bowing down after a historic 18-day wave of pro-democracy demonstrations by hundreds of thousands.

A massive crowd in Cairo’s central Tahrir Square exploded into joy, waving Egyptian flags, and car horns and celebratory shots in the air were heard around the city of 18 million in joy after Vice President Omar Suleiman made the announcement on national TV just after nightfall.

“In these grave circumstances that the country is passing through, President Hosni Mubarak has decided to leave his position as president of the republic,” a grim-looking Suleiman said. “He has mandated the Armed Forces Supreme Council to run the state. God is our protector and succor.”

Nobel Peace laureate Mohammed ElBaradei, whose young suporters were among the organizers of the protest movement, told The Associated Press, “This is the greatest day of my life.”

‘Largely Secular’: US Intelligence Director Says Muslim Brotherhood Is Secular Hours After Senior Member of Muslim Brotherhood Admits Ultimate Goal Is Sharia Law in Egypt

Obama's Director of National Intelligence thinks Muslim Brotherhood is 'largely secular'

This is the caliber of personnel we have come to expect from the Obama Administration.

From Josh Gerstein at Politico :

During a House Intelligence Committee hearing Thursday, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper called Egypt's branch of the Muslim Brotherhood movement "largely secular."

In response to questioning from Rep. Sue Myrick (R-N.C.) about the threat posed by the group, Clapper suggested that the Egyptian part of the Brotherhood is not particularly extreme and that the broader international movement is hard to generalize about.

"The term 'Muslim Brotherhood'...is an umbrella term for a variety of movements, in the case of Egypt, a very heterogeneous group, largely secular, which has eschewed violence and has decried Al Qaeda as a perversion of Islam," Clapper said. "They have pursued social ends, a betterment of the political order in Egypt, et cetera.....In other countries, there are also chapters or franchises of the Muslim Brotherhood, but there is no overarching agenda, particularly in pursuit of violence, at least internationally."

The Brotherhood uses the slogan, "Islam is the answer," and generally advocates for government in accordance with Islamic principles. The movement has as a broad goal unifying what it perceives as Muslim lands, from Spain to Indonesia, as a "caliphate."

From the people who brought you the term "man-made disasters," "overseas contingency actions,"; andwho have done everything in their power to disabuse people of the odd notion that there is such a thing as "Islamic terrorism" (see their reaction to the Fort Hood shooting, for one example) comes the perverse and dangerous idea that the Muslim Brotherhood is "largely secular".

Patrick Moynihan would call this "defining deviancy down." Others might have more pointed terms

Michelle Obama is Flat Out Lying

"All roads lead back to Chicago with this White House. Jarrett is the true power in the administration."

White House Insider:
February 10, 2011
Published by Ulsterman

Our latest installment from our D.C. Insider states Michelle Obama is "flat out lying" about President Obama’s smoking habit, while also indicating a rift has already emerged between Valerie Jarrett and newly appointed White House Chief of Staff William Daley, and the possibility of a soon to come Congressional investigation set to rock the Obama administration.

Here is my take on the First Lady’s “Obama isn’t smoking anymore” comments this past week. Michelle Obama is flat out lying and this kind of lying has become terminal within the Obama White House. Is that direct enough for you? I know for a FACT the president did NOT quit smoking last year. Knowing that leaves me with the question of why Michelle Obama goes out and makes such a statement. That is the question you should have been asking. So why does she lie about her husband’s smoking habit? Certainly she is aware others know she is lying. So why do it? And if the president had in fact quit smoking after a 30 year habit, how in the hell does he manage to lose weight while doing so? The guy looks downright emaciated over the last year. And of course I’ve already spoken to what might be causing that.

Now this entire subject might seem on the surface to be somewhat unimportant, right? President Obama smokes or doesn’t smoke, who cares. Ah, but now add the First Lady making the issue a public lie regarding the subject. Why do that? One, I think this White House has become less and less concerned with the appearance of truth. They have already gotten away with so much, so many times, that they now are emboldened to say or do what they want even more, regardless of where the truth might fit in. Now THAT should be of great concern to everyone.

Second, and this is total speculation here on my part, that there is an ongoing dispute between the First Lady and the president over his “habits”, and she put out that public statement as some kind of passive aggressive power play. That is her motivation. I don’t want to start on the psychology of a wife who would do that to a husband, make his habits and struggles a matter of public record, but it is a weird thing to do don’t you think? Was the First Lady punishing the president? Hell if I know, but it was a weird thing to do because so many of us know that the president has not quit smoking since last year. And if the First Lady is so willing to lie about something so trivial as the president’s smoking habit, imagine what kind of other lies she is participating in. Or don’t imagine as frankly it might be just too -expletive- scary to consider.

Now to something more directly political. Received word that a rift is already developing between Valerie Jarrett and Bill D. Daley is worried Obamacare will be too easily used against the president in 2012 and wants to make drastic alterations to the legislation by the end of this year so it can be sold as more popular than it currently is.  Read More

Obama raised in a sea of Marxist and socialist thinking

Barack Obama is a man without a core

February 10, 2011
The Essential Barack Obama
By Steve McCann

Today the United States finds itself adrift on a sea of uncertainty; its economy floundering under the weight of oppressive debt and mismanagement, its status in world affairs at its lowest ebb since the beginning of the 20th Century and its citizens openly questioning the future. At such a critical time the country has as its President a man unable or qualified to lead.

Barack Obama is a man without a core, leaving the ship of state without a rudder in the management of foreign affairs and domestic policy which have spun dangerously out of control over the past two years. A cursory examination of Mr. Obama's life and accomplishments reveals a man whose life has been centered around the discovery of two personal attributes (as detailed in his autobiography "Dreams from My Father"): his ability to deliver a speech and his skin color in a nation obsessed with guilt for the past. His writings and the sharing of a strong anti-colonialist sentiments with his father (see Dinesh D'Souza: "Roots of Obama's Rage") portray an overwhelming sense of entitlement due solely to his paternal African descent.

While raised in a sea of Marxist and socialist thinking, these philosophies only served to confirm his deep seated animosity toward the United States and the western world and not as a basis for any firm ideological beliefs. Over the years his reluctance to promote the purity of those ideologies whenever given the opportunity confirms that he has never been an abject true believer.

Rather Obama has used and manipulated the true believers into being the foot soldiers for his personal ambitions. The most overused phrase since he assumed the national spotlight is: "thrown under the bus" and it has been so for good reason as in the case of Reverend Jeremiah Wright whose church Obama joined in order to politically ingratiate himself with the Chicago black community.

Out of his Marxist upbringing, Obama has embraced the doctrine of the end justifies the means, but in his case as a strategy to achieve his egocentric ambitions not political ends except to do enough to keep his left-wing base in line. This cynical belief represents the epitome of corruption in any society. A leader within government or the national community at large who is captive to this thinking must be by necessity devoid of ethics, integrity, or morals.  Read More

The Alternative Market Project: A Sneak Preview

"The greatest threat to the U.S. economy today is forced globalization and the fiat central banking system.

If we wish to fight back against the globalist feudalism thrust upon us, we must decentralize markets and rebuild local commerce and trade."

By Brandon Smith (aka Giordano Bruno)
Neithercorp Press – 2/10/2011

If you want something done right, you might well have to do it yourself. We’ve heard the old adage before, but rarely do we ever seem to apply it to our economic environment. Instead, we have seen fit to allow “smarter” men to take the reigns, and take control, of our financial well being, all on misplaced faith in the supposed good intentions of government and corporate bodies. This cultural attitude of non-involvement in the economic decision making process has cost millions of Americans their jobs and now threatens the stability of our currency, our nation, not to mention our very future. Many of us have become entirely dependent on only a handful of men for our own livelihoods. It is time to take greater stock in ourselves, our ingenuity, and our ability to create and adapt. It is time to take responsibility for our own commerce, and breathe life back into local communities once again. It is time for an alternative…

The greatest threat to the U.S. economy today is forced globalization and the fiat central banking system. Many organizations are working to expose, audit, and even shut down the private Federal Reserve, which is responsible in large part for facilitating the mortgage and derivatives crisis as well as the continued devaluation of our dollar. This is a vital effort that requires the utmost support from all facets of the Liberty Movement. However, there is another matter that needs to be addressed in tandem with any endeavor to remove our destructive central banking system…

Much of the damage that can be inflicted on our economy has already been dealt. As neithercorp and many other websites devoted to honest financial analysis have shown time and again, our fiscal structure is teetering on the brink of oblivion, our so called “recovery” is a façade fed by skewed statistics and rivers of fiat money dumped into banks and stocks, and our purchasing power is being crushed by a deliberate campaign to slow-kill the greenback. Only now are greater signs of this disaster being revealed to the masses as real unemployment remains essentially static and prices of base goods skyrocket. Even with a successful initiative launched against the Federal Reserve, we would still be left with a faulty, crumbling, debt based architecture. We can pull the iceberg from our shattered ship, but the ship is still going to sink.

The key to our survival is not only to go after the culprits who have carpet bombed us, but to also build a better system to shield us from any financial shrapnel that might be hurled our way.  Read More

Government Rail to the Edge of the Abyss

"We are approaching an abyss. But the frenzied looting by Obama and friends will not stop until either they are removed from power or our once great nation collapses into insolvency."

From now until the day our entire economy collapses under the weight of government debt is a wonderful time to be a corrupt bureaucrat or crony capitalist, as made obvious by Comrade Obama's recently announced "high speed" rail boondoggle:

At Philadelphia's 30th Street Station on Tuesday, lifelong government rail promoter Vice President Joe Biden unveiled a $53 billion high-speed train initiative and half-joked: "I'm like the ombudsman for Amtrak." As with most gaffetastic Biden-isms, the remark should prompt more heartburn than hilarity. Just who exactly is looking out for taxpayers when it comes to federal rail spending?  Read More

Who’s Your Daddy?… Saudi King Told Obama Not to Humiliate Mubarak

Posted by Jim Hoft on Wednesday, February 9, 2011

Worst. President. Ever.

Good grief!… Will the United States have any allies left when the Obama regime leaves office?
It doesn’t look like it.

The Saudi King threatened to prop up Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak if the Obama White House tried to force a swift regime change in Egypt.
The Times reported:

Saudi Arabia has threatened to prop up President Mubarak if the White House tries to force a swift change of regime in Egypt. In a testy personal telephone call on January 29, King Abdullah told President Obama not to humiliate Mr Mubarak and warned that he would step in to bankroll Egypt if the US withdrew its aid programme, worth $1.5 billion annually. America’s closest ally in the Gulf made clear that the Egyptian President must be allowed to stay on to oversee the transition towards peaceful democracy and then leave with dignity. “Mubarak and King Abdullah are not just allies, they are close friends, and the King is not about to see his friend cast aside and humiliated,” a senior source in the Saudi capital told The Times.

Nice work, Barack.
You’ve just pi$$ed off every American ally in the Middle East… But, at least Iran is happy.

Rumsfeld Tells Rush: Radical Islamists Intend to ‘Create a Caliphate’

Posted on February 8, 2011

(via DailyRushbo)

“We are up against a vicious enemy, the radical Islamists are there, they intend to try to create a Caliphate in this world and fundamentally alter the nature of nation states, and we’re reluctant to engage in the competition of ideas and point out what they really are and how vicious they are. This current administration is even afraid to say the word Islamist. And we need to fight. We need to be willing to say what it is and be willing to tackle it.”

Gallup: American Public Becoming Extremely Dissatisfied

Nearly 7 out of 10 Americans say they are dissatisfied

February 8, 2011
Posted by Van Helsing

They say Comrade Obama got caught with his pants down on Egypt; he should have seen that the country was ready to blow. You could say the same about another country I know…

Nearly 7 out of 10 Americans say they are dissatisfied with the size and power of the federal government and with nation's moral and ethical climate, says the Gallup Poll.

Fortunately, despite the disastrous consequences in 2008, we are still able to believe in our electoral system, so revolution here needn't feature violence in the streets.

However, our rogue government is so far out of control, people are losing faith. In January 2002, 76% were satisfied with our system of government and how well it works. That has dropped like a rock to an alarming 42%.

In addition to grotesquely inflating the size and power of the federal government, liberals have used their control of the media to poison our culture. People don't like it:

The greatest public dissatisfaction … is with the moral and ethical climate of the country. Today, 69 percent of Americans say they are dissatisfied with that climate, while 30 percent say they are satisfied.

Glenn Beck, Bill Kristol, and the Unholy Alliance of Radical Islam and the American Left

by David Horowitz

Bill Kristol is entitled to his optimism about democratic revolutions in the Islamic world. Perhaps the elections in Egypt will turn out better than those in Gaza where Hamas now rules a terrorist state; Iraq, which has instituted an Islamic Republic; Lebanon, where Hezbollah now rules a terrorist state; and Afghanistan, which is a kleptocracy wooing the terrorist theocracy in Iran. What he should not be doing as a conservative leader is demonizing Glenn Beck, who has done more to educate Americans about the unholy alliance between the secular left and the Islamic jihadists than anyone else. Kristol needs to apologize to Beck for comparing him — outrageously — to the conspiracist Robert Welch, and should be embarrassed by his own ignorance of the agendas of both American radicals and their jihadist allies. At this point in time, such ignorance is not only inexcusable but dangerous.

Bill Kristol, Stand for Truth
By Pamela Geller

Bill Kristol has opened the French doors of his ivory tower, stepped out and deigned to address the great unwashed conservative quarter. High above the people and reality, he admonishes those on the right for not embracing the catastrophic events unfolding in the Middle East.

In his opinion piece, Stand for Freedom, he dismisses or summarily denies the concrete facts on the ground. Of course, we all want freedom. Of course, we support voices yearning to be free. We fought for and believed The Bush Doctrine, and still do. But there is far more at work here, as evidenced by the fierce behind-the-scenes jockeying and arm-twisting by the on-the-ascent Muslim Brotherhood, an organization created after the fall of the Ottoman Empire for the purpose of restoring the rule of political Islam.

The Brotherhood Amongst Us

Wherever Muslims go, the Brotherhood will follow. It has now even infiltrated many non-Muslim countries, including the U.S. and even our government.

Posted by Nonie Darwish on Feb 8th, 2011

The Muslim Brotherhood has long been a major political force in the Muslim world. Its power comes from a deep conviction among Muslims in general that its ideology represents true Islam and that it is the front line of defense of Islam and its protection from any novelty or change. As a matter of fact, there is a law in Sharia that entrusts the Muslim head of state with just that: protecting Islam from any “bidaa” — meaning novelty. Many Muslims in the West defend not only the Brotherhood but also many of its affiliates such as Hamas, and place them in high regard. To many Muslims, criticizing the Brotherhood is equivalent to attacking Islam itself. Thus, the Brotherhood has been a major force in bringing down regimes and installing new governments, and whether we like it or not they will play a significant role in any administration, whether it is openly Islamic or nominally secular.

Wherever Muslims go, the Brotherhood will follow. It has now even infiltrated many non-Muslim countries, including the U.S. and even our government. As a fellow Egyptian, I have no doubt that the head-covered, Egyptian-born White House advisor Dalia Mogahed is herself a Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas sympathizer and Sharia defender. She helped write president Obama’s Cairo speech, which was geared to appease and legitimize the Brotherhood, the very organization that inspired Al-Qaeda that attacked America on 9/11. Obama believed that he would be the hero who will make the Muslim world love us, but he ended up only empowering the Brotherhood against both Arab reformists and Western interests.  Read More

Egypt: a Foreign Policy Failure

The Obama administration is in way over its head.

Posted by Stephen Brown on Feb 8th, 2011

As predicted, President Barack Obama’s attempt last week to oust Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak from power failed miserably after he ran into a steel wall of opposition from the Egyptian president and his generals. Ignoring the pressure to resign, Mubarak showed Obama he will be the one who decides when he steps down and that he has the Egyptian military’s support in doing so. The White House’s plan to force Mubarak’s immediate departure not only exhibited an embarrassing lack of knowledge concerning Egyptian society and the danger a hasty coup would pose to Egypt’s fragile stability, but also that long-time American allies cannot rely on the Obama administration when in difficulty. This latest policy setback indicates, as has long been suspected, that in the area of foreign affairs, the Obama administration is in way over its head.

Perhaps the largest misstep in the failed attempt to get Mubarak out was made by Obama himself. In an obvious misreading of the political situation and of Mubarak’s character, President Obama intervened personally in Egyptian internal affairs with a hasty, 30-minute phone call to Mubarak last Tuesday evening after the Egyptian president said in a speech to the nation he would not seek re-election in September. The speech met with a mixed reception, but managed to garner sympathy among segments of the population, a development the White House had obviously not even considered.  Read More
