Global food prices hit a record high in February, the United Nations said Thursday, warning that further oil price spikes and stockpiling by importers keen to head off unrest would hit already volatile cereal markets.
Rising food prices are a growing global concern, partly fuelling the protests which toppled the rulers of Tunisia and Egypt in January and February, which in turn unleashed unrest in North Africa and the Middle East from Algeria to Yemen.

All that is necessary is a political decision to reverse our energy policy and stimulate domestic production of hydrocarbons. The United States is again, for the second time in less than three years, being reminded of its absurd dependence of foreign sources of energy, most notably, oil. The upheavals in the Middle East have driven up the cost of a barrel of oil into triple digits as it was in 2008. The increasing demands of countries such as China and India and the deliberate devaluation of the dollar by the Federal Reserve and the Obama administration are steadily pushing up oil prices in dollars.
The country's dependence of foreign sources has increased to 52% of the daily requirement as compared to 45% just 15 years ago. Over half of that amount comes from countries that are inherently unstable or ruled by despotic regimes whose interest it is to de-stabilize the United States.

It's crunch time in Washington, D.C. President Obama must know that a dozen Republicans are saving those boastful videotapes of Mr. O pushing President Mubarak out of power, followed by an endless series of breakdowns throughout the Arabic world.
Just think about that as a 30 second commercial next election year:
Obama: "Mubarak must resign. Now means Now!"

And what is one issue that is sure to get the left and the right screaming at each other like cats and dogs? Unions. The battle over collective bargaining rights in Wisconsin has been making headlines around the world for weeks and there are no signs that it is going to end any time soon. In fact, Mordecai Lee, a political scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, says that it is "a battle to the death". The Democrats that have gone AWOL appear to be absolutely determined to stay away. The protesters seem equally determined to keep on fighting. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker does not look like he plans to back down either. Meanwhile, both sides are calling each other the most horrible names. The only plausible answer is that most people participate in our current destructive financial system because they feel there are no other options. AMM plans to change this by offering a new choice, one which presents a solid foundation, an honest and legitimate sense of community, self sufficiency, and sound trade backed by tangible commodities instead of unsustainable debts. We will work to help each and every individual achieve greater independence and to connect with other like-minded participants in a newer, liberty based market. This market will be facilitated and administrated by communities themselves, away from bureaucracy, corporate influence, and overt regulation. It will serve the interests of the average man and woman, and not the interests of globalism and elitist hierarchy.
We believe wholeheartedly in the framework of Constitutional Law, and that no government or supranational entity has the right to overstep Constitutional boundaries for any reason, regardless of supposed intentions or mandates. We do not recognize the self proclaimed authority of corporately created and managed entities such as the Federal Reserve, the IMF, or the World Bank. We are fully opposed to the practice of fractional reserve banking, fiat currency, central banking, and other fraudulent financial Ponzi schemes. We stand against the forced centralization of countries and cultures and the erasure of national sovereignty. We believe that the first step in defending against such economic and political manipulation is to create an alternative system that safeguards the values of free markets and free peoples. We are a natural extension of the Liberty Movement which is already making great headway in American society today.
Our goal is not to centralize authority in this movement, but to encourage individual awareness, and individual action. We hope to provide the knowledge and tools necessary to make it possible for anyone, from the average working American, to the successful private business owner, to become their own leader, taking actions in their own neighborhoods and towns with the purpose of forming viable trade networks, eventually decoupling and shielding themselves from the diseased economy currently in place.

Attorney General Eric Holder had something of a meltdown on Capitol Hill today when a Republican Congressman pressed him on his preferential treatment of the New Black Panther Party. Rep. John Culberson, R-TX, read a statement from a Democrat calling the Black Panthers’ actions the worst case of voter intimidation he had ever seen. In response, Holder huffed that, while the Panther’s nightstick-wielding threats were “inappropriate,” the assessment was demeaning to “my people.”
Perhaps more important than his admission that he does not see the American people as “his people” is a line he uttered shortly afterwards.
After Culberson cited “overwhelming evidence that your Department of Justice refuses to protect the rights of anybody other than African-Americans to vote,” Holder stated, “This Department of Justice does not enforce the law on the basis of race.”
Holder intended this as a denial, but it seems more like a Freudian admission.

The United States of America—that “shining city on a hill”—had a good run of it, and made a gallant effort at establishing liberty for all. But as the old saw would have it, all good things must come to an end.
Liberty, after all, is an aberration in mankind’s history—a light that has flared here and there over the centuries, only to dissolve back into the darkness.
America is barreling toward becoming a bit player on the world’s stage, and its vaunted middle class—once the envy of the world—is on the verge of being eliminated. It has become glaringly obvious that our current federal government, and most state governments to varying degrees, have become illegal, oppressive, usurpers of power that run contrary to the constitution and the people they represent.
Governments come in all manner of design. They are more apt to be abusive than they are comforting to those they purport to defend or represent. Of all the governmental forms the most protective of individual rights is a constitutional republic, solely because the powers the government wields are derived from the people and therefore the government cannot legally derive any power that is not granted to the government by the people. Yet, a republican form of government is the most easily lost to a non-attentive or ignorant citizenry.
In the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence we find, concerning the government and the rights of the people: “That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
All governments, and therefore government powers, have a beginning. They are either usurped, meaning taken by force, or the powers are delegated to them by those that created the government. In the case of a dictatorship or other oppressive governmental forms, the power is nearly always usurped. Heads I win, tails you lose. That’s the false choice America’s Community Organizer-in-Chief just offered the states. Let me explain. Many governors are unhappy about Obamacare, so President Obama told them, “If your state can create a plan that can cover as many people as affordably and comprehensively as the Affordable Care Act does, without increasing the deficit, you can implement that plan and we’ll work with you to do it.” Sounds like he’s being pragmatic and reasonable doesn’t it?
Well then the joke’s on you.
Michael F. Cannon of the Cato Institute saw through Obama’s ruse:
A closer look shows that the president is not lifting the burdensome requirements ObamaCare imposes on states. All he’s doing is proposing to move up, from 2017 to 2014, the date on which states can apply for federal permission to impose a different but equivalently or more coercive plan to expand health insurance coverage.
The move is calculated to make it look like President Obama is suddenly being realistic about the crushing burden his horrendous big government health care legislation will impose on the states. Heads I win, tails you lose. That’s the false choice America’s Community Organizer-in-Chief just offered the states. Let me explain. Many governors are unhappy about Obamacare, so President Obama told them, “If your state can create a plan that can cover as many people as affordably and comprehensively as the Affordable Care Act does, without increasing the deficit, you can implement that plan and we’ll work with you to do it.” Sounds like he’s being pragmatic and reasonable doesn’t it?
Well then the joke’s on you.
Michael F. Cannon of the Cato Institute saw through Obama’s ruse:
A closer look shows that the president is not lifting the burdensome requirements ObamaCare imposes on states. All he’s doing is proposing to move up, from 2017 to 2014, the date on which states can apply for federal permission to impose a different but equivalently or more coercive plan to expand health insurance coverage.
The move is calculated to make it look like President Obama is suddenly being realistic about the crushing burden his horrendous big government health care legislation will impose on the states. President Obama and the left wing of the Democratic Party think they are entitled to win. From our narcissistic President to screaming union organizers, they are puffed up with self-righteous zeal. They must have health care to save the sick, they must shut down Louisiana oil rigs to save the planet, they must defend government unions to save the middle class.
Of course, each side thinks they are right. Being right is no excuse. You have to abide by the law, you have to abide by elections, you have to respect the courts and constitutional separation of power, or else we no longer live in a democratic country. In our democracy, no one is entitled to win. If you won't lose, you cannot have democracy.
What you have are the Wisconsin Democrat senators who are unwilling to abide by the election results that put them in a minority. What you have is Reid and Pelosi, ramming Obamacare through by breaking rules of procedure, in order to flout the 2010 election results. What you have is the Obama White House, blocking Congress's right to confirm appointees, and openly ignoring federal courts. What you have is the Justice Department announcing it will no longer defend the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act in court, as if Obama gets to decide which laws are constitutional. Even though no one on Capitol Hill is talking about it, unless it is stopped, in less than 90 days, you will be REQUIRED by federal law to have, and carry on your person, a “national ID” card in the form of a national drivers’ license. You know, the type of card the Nazi’s and the communists in the Soviet Union made people carry. In 1993 the Republican Congress referred to it as an “internal passport” when the Clinton Administration initially tried to create it—first as a national healthcare card, then as a “jobs card” to keep illegal aliens from stealing jobs from U.S. citizens and finally, in 1996, as a national drivers’ license.
Based on the provisions of The Real ID Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-13, 119 Stat 392), Barack Obama’s Department of Homeland Security will now require the federalization of State-issued driver’s licenses by May 11, 2011. Every State will be required to issue driver’s licenses that conform to new federal identification compliance “standards.”
Living in America, did you ever think you’d experience the invasive government, Big Brother tactics that we see in movies of Nazi Germany, in which uniformed officers demand: “Where are your papers?”
That is exactly what YOUR government is doing!
I am reminded of George Orwell’s riveting book, “1984.” Is “1984″ now upon us? The new national ID cards, disguised as a uniform drivers’ license, will be biometric. Each card will store personal data about the card holder. What information? Whatever the computer chip will hold—up to a gigabyte of data. And, each card will contain a GPS tracking chip. (Just in case someone steals your card, Big Brother will know, within 3 feet, where that card is at any moment.) George Orwell’s 1984 has finally arrived—and only 27 years late.
Please, CLICK HERE to FAX every Member of the U.S. Congress to tell them to STOP any form of National I.D. cards or National Drivers’ license. Tell Congress that the Real ID Act goes beyond constitutional limits, and that the American people will not be subjected to what amounts to an internal passport. I think the Right is at a crucial crossroads. If we have too many more moments like these, conservatives will be known for what we can’t agree on more than what we can. I believe it’s time for the Right to rally around certain issues and unite. There’s too much that true conservatives can unite around, and that’s what this list is about.
I’d like to make one note here: in this post I’m avoiding certain social issues for one particular reason. While there are plenty of conservatives who are passionate about abortion, traditional marriage, and several other issues, we often have to walk on eggshells when dealing with such issues. My intention is for this post to be a rallying cry, rather than a flashpoint for further debate, so I’m staying clear of some of these potentially more contentious issues. With that said, here we go. Will The Death Of The Dollar Lead To The Birth Of A New World Economic Order?
There is no getting around it. The U.S. dollar is dying. U.S. government debt continues to grow at a very frightening pace and the Federal Reserve is now buying up most of the new debt that is being issued. At this point there is simply not enough money in the rest of the world to continue to feed the U.S. government's endless thirst for more debt so the Federal Reserve has had to directly intervene in order to keep the Ponzi scheme going. Other nations are rapidly losing faith in the U.S. dollar as they realize that there is simply no way that the U.S. government will be able to service this soaring debt for much longer. Even now we are watching the U.S. dollar rapidly fall against a vast array of hard assets. Virtually all major agricultural commodities have exploded in price over the past year, the price of gold is over $1400 an ounce again and last week U.S. crude oil prices topped $100 a barrel for the first time since 2008. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve continues to print dollars as if there is no tomorrow and the U.S. government continues to spend dollars as if the party is never going to end.
