(NaturalNews) Several nuclear power plants in the southeastern US have begun to detect low levels of radioactive iodine-131 in the air, which is the same type of radiation now being found all over the place as a result of the mega-earthquake and tsunami that struck the Fukushima Daiichi power plant in Japan on March 11, 2011. Reuters has indicated that power plants in both North and South Carolina, as well as one in Florida, have all detected what they say are "low levels" of the non-native radioactive substance.

"If there were radiation coming from one our own sites, we would be seeing other types of radiation than iodine-131," said Drew Elliot, a spokesman for Progress Energy. "Other nuclear stations throughout the East Coast all started picking this up within the last week. It all points to something coming from overseas. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) both say it poses no threat to public safety."

Progress Energy's Hartsville, SC, plant and Crystal River, Fla., plant both detected what the company says are low levels of radioactive iodine-131. And Duke Energy's two plants in South Carolina, as well as its plant in Huntersville, NC, all reported levels of the non-native radioactive substance as well.  Read More

Recall how confused many of us were by the Obama candidacy? Remember how we laughed at “community organizing,” “hope,” and “change?” Do you recall the promise of “fundamental transformation,” and how few of us understood what it really meant?

If we learned anything from the Obama candidacy, it’s that we ought to be on our highest guard when this president is at his most perplexing. It is a mistake to dismiss what seems nonsensical and assume there is no method to the madness.

Since American military action began against Libya, confusion has reigned among policymakers and pundits. The Fukushima crisis continues to worsen by the day, with nuclear experts around the world finally realizing and admitting we've all been lied to. "I think maybe the situation is much more serious than we were led to believe," said Najmedin Meshkati of the University of Southern California, in a Reuters report (http://www.reuters.com/article/2011...). That same article revealed that recent radiation readings at Fukushima show "contamination 100,000 times normal in water at reactor No. 2 and 1,850 times normal in the nearby sea."

Massachusetts rainwater has also been found to be contaminated with low levels of radiation from Fukushima, indicating just how widespread the radioactive fallout has become. It's not just the West Coast of North America that's vulnerable, in other words: even the East Coast could receive dangerous levels of fallout if Fukushima suffers a larger release of radioactive material into the air.

Rolling blackouts are now continuing throughout Japan due to the drop in power production from Fukushima diminishing Japan's electricity generating capacity (http://english.kyodonews.jp/news/20...). The only reason Japan isn't experiencing widespread power blackouts right now is because so many factories were damaged or swept away from the tsunami itself. Once a serious rebuilding effort gets underway, Japan is going to find itself critically short of electrical power.  Read More

It is starting to look obvious that the administration doesn't want oil exploration and extraction at home while it is promoting the same exploration and extraction elsewhere -- specifically Brazil and New Guinea. JERUSALEM (AP) — A new defense system meant to protect southern Israel from Gaza militants’ rockets will go into operation on Sunday, the Israeli military said, after weeks of stepped-up rocket and mortar attacks that have drawn fears of renewed war. The Islamic Jihad militant group reported that two of its members were killed and another was wounded in an Israeli airstrike early Sunday on Gaza. The Israeli military had no immediate comment on the report.



Gaza militants, including Islamic Jihad and the territory’s Hamas rulers, had said over the weekend that they would cease fire if Israel did. A major problem with that pledge is the inability of the larger groups to control rogue militants from attacking. Israel has said it does not want the violence to escalate. Read More

The US has been on Bin Laden's trail ever since he fled Afghanistan when the US invaded the country in 2001 to oust the Taliban, but the 54-year-old with a US$50 million reward on his head has always remained several steps in front.

Under fire for an operation that allowed smuggling of U.S. weapons across the nation’s border with Mexico, President Obama said in an interview that neither he nor Attorney General Eric Holder authorized the controversial “Operation Fast and Furious.”

The Mexican government has complained that it didn’t know about the U.S. operation that allowed guns to illegally cross the southwestern border so they could track the weapons.

Obama told Univision‘s Jorge Ramos that President Felipe Calderon wasn’t informed of the operation because he — the president of the United States — wasn’t informed either. When asked whether he knew of the weapon smuggling plan, Obama responded that it is “a pretty big government” with “a lot of moving parts.”

The investigation into the program comes after it was connected to two weapons that were found at the scene of a border shootout that killed U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry in December. Likewise, a gun smuggled from the U.S. were used to kill Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agent Jamie Zapata, but it has not been determined if it was part of “Fast and Furious.”  Read More

Additionally, they found that he used different social security numbers within a couple of years of each other. Investigators associated social security numbers with addresses where he lived across the United States, and where he didn’t live. His most flagrant use of a card is one that wasn’t issued to him and that he is using today. Orly Taitz has uncovered new information that adds even more evidence proving Obama’s family, history, and integrity are seriously fraudulent. Lies about family associations, friends, college, travels, and work are being exposed with rapidity. The cards in question include his social security card, selective service card, and even his student report card! Evidence is mounting that his life is one of deceit, lies, and more lies.
