The man behind the Benghazi cover-up?

"Not long ago, Rhodes was one of the obscure guys who wrote Obama's campaign speeches in Starbucks and played video games into the early morning hours. Now he attends national security meetings and takes writer's refuge in a secret office on the third floor of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building."

Stephen Hayes of the Weekly Standard has a must read column regarding the Benghazi cover-up by White House officials.

CIA career officials clearly and repeatedly identified Al Qaeda and Al Qaeda-linked Islamic terrorists as the culprits behind the murder of four Americans.

Of course, this would cause embarrassment for the Obama team, especially in the few weeks before the election. They had been boasting for years that Al Qaeda had been decimated, the "tide of war" was receding; they had been on a mission to whitewash the prospect of Islamic terrorism as a threat to America (see Lauri Regan's superb column ("Can a President who has promised to stand with Muslims protect America? ). Obama's Cairo speech before an audience that included Muslim Brotherhood officials that he compelled Egypt to include, was a paean to Islam. It was also, to a great extent, a work of fiction that included grandiose and subsequently disproven claims about the positive contributions Islam has made to America and the world.

That speech was written by Obama's foreign policy speechwriter and now National Security Council team member, Ben Rhodes.

That is the man who Hayes "outs" as a key person behind the Benghazi cover-up. Read More

How can Obama speak about guns in Mexico with a straight face

May 4, 2013
americanthinker.com
Silvio Canto, Jr.

President Obama's Mexico trip has just taken a turn for the bizarre. This is what President Obama told Mexicans:

"...I will continue to do everything in my power to pass common-sense reforms that keep guns out of the hands of criminals and dangerous people. That can save lives here in Mexico and back home in the United States. It's the right thing to do,...." (RCP

First, the Obama administration put 2,000 high powered weapons in the hands of Mexican cartels. Did President Obama forget about that little tragic episode from his first term? We hear that 200-plus Mexicans were killed by these weapons. Why didn't President Obama apologize to the soldiers' families? Or the widows? Or the orphans?

Second, cartel leaders, or criminals in the US, will continue to have guns because outlaws always do. Can someone remind President Obama of what is happening in Chicago? President Obama's hometown has very strict gun laws but Juarez is Disneyland compared to the killings in Chicago!

Third, all of these guns are already outlawed in Mexico and in the US.

How do you say "The Twilight Zone" in Spanish? I think that it's "La dimension desconocidad," i.e. the unknown dimension literally. Read More

The Great Education Power-Grab

May 4, 2013
americanthinker.com
By E. Jeffrey Ludwig

Did you know that reformers intent on implementing the Core Curriculum (National Standards) have invaded public education? They do not care about kids or about individuals. Armed with statistics and vast software systems, their intent is to establish one-size-fits-all curricula and success parameters in public education nationwide. The scope of their ambitions leads this educator to the conclusion that their underlying impulse is totalitarian.

These reformers are driving toward the six- or seven-class-a-day high school teaching load, the 9-5 schedule for the schools (or longer), school provided free and compulsory for ages 2 to 22 (or 26), the six- or seven-day school week, and the 12-month school year (with two- or three-week vacation breaks scattered throughout the school year), all controlled by a vast bureaucracy nationwide and justified by the implementation of "national standards." A database of answers to 400 questions by all U.S. students K-20 will be compiled and maintained at a tremendous cost to the public. Forty-six states are already on board. This 20-plus years of control and indoctrination will, if implemented, become a cornerstone of statist control.mic

Who's doing it? These reforms are led by Bill Ayers, Michelle Rhee, Arne Duncan, and Mayor Mike Bloomberg of New York City. They are also led by educational publishers such as Cengage, Pearson, McGraw Hill, and McDougal Littel. They have a host of supporters including, but not limited to, the Coalition of Essential Schools, New Visions, the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and other NGOs that want to bring equality and progress [sic] to institutions supposedly failing to their very core. These "reformers" are being abetted by their so-called adversaries, the education unions: UFT, AFT, NEA, and NYSUT. Claiming to object to some of the teacher hostility expressed by the "reformers," these unions actually are 100% in tune with the political and social agenda of those reformers. Why? Because the movement toward "national standards" by these reformers means increased membership and dues for the unions, consolidation of power, and national promotion of their left-wing agenda. The education unions become junior partners in one of the greatest power plays in the history of this country.

The key to their vision, if one can call this Brave New World and 1984 nightmare a "vision," is to bring in a whole new class of school administrators. These administrators do not have teaching experience. Teaching experience tends to breed respect for the individual. Instead, the drive of national standards is to collectivize, to standardize, and to establish one-size-fits-all educational benchmarks, goals, and curricula. The new mandarins of education are people in their twenties or early thirties who are to come in and uproot the supposed garbage of the past. Likewise, pressures are being brought to bear on older teachers and experienced administrators to get out of the way of the "agenda of change." Read More

The Percentage Of Self-Employed Americans Is At A Record Low

They Are Murdering Small Business: The Percentage Of Self-Employed Americans Is At A Record Low

May 3, 2013

By Michael Snyder

The percentage of Americans that are working for themselves has never been lower in the history of the United States.  Once upon a time, the United States was a paradise for entrepreneurs and small businesses, but now the control freak bureaucrats that dominate our society have created a system that absolutely eviscerates them.  This is very unfortunate, because by murdering small business, the bureaucrats are destroying the primary engine of job growth in this country.  One of the big reasons why there are not enough jobs in America today is because small business creation is way down.  As I mentioned yesterday, entrepreneurs and small businesses are being absolutely devastated by rules, regulations, red tape and by oppressive levels of taxation.  If anyone doubts that small business in the United States is dying, just look at the charts below.  Sadly, this is what the bureaucrats that run things want.  They don’t want us to be independent of the system.  Instead, they are much more comfortable when as many of us as possible are heavily dependent on the system in one way or another.  If all of us have to go running to the government or to one of the big corporations for a job, then we are much easier to control.  But as the control freaks continue to construct their bureaucratic utopia, they are also killing off what once made the U.S. economy so great.  Read More

Radicalizing the Military

By Jeffrey T. Brown

American armed forces. "Duty, Honor, Country". "Semper Fidelis". "Service Before Self". "Honor, Courage, Commitment". "This We'll Defend". "Semper Paratus". These are words that denote selfless dedication to a higher calling than the gratification of one's own desires. The men and women who have served our country in the past, and who serve now, are without a doubt the finest of us. They are the face of America around the world, and we are blessed beyond measure that they serve our country with such grace and courage under the worst of external conditions.

Presently, however, they are under threat from within, and one cannot help but notice that our military is being forced, against centuries of American tradition, morals and example, to become a reflection of the left. This appears to be part of the plan to fundamentally transform the United States, and it carries dire consequences for our long-term survival. Read More

Pentagon May Court Martial Soldiers Who Share Christian Faith

The Pentagon has released a statement confirming that soldiers could be prosecuted for promoting their faith: “Religious proselytization is not permitted within the Department of Defense…Court martials and non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis…”.

The statement, released to Fox News, follows a Breitbart News report on Obama administration Pentagon appointees meeting with anti-Christian extremist Mikey Weinstein to develop court-martial procedures to punish Christians in the military who express or share their faith.

(From our earlier report: Weinstein is the head of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, and says Christians–including chaplains–sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in the military are guilty of “treason,” and of committing an act of “spiritual rape” as serious a crime as “sexual assault.” He also asserted that Christians sharing their faith in the military are “enemies of the Constitution.”) Read More

Obama...The Fall

Charles Krauthammer

May 2, 2013

By Charles Krauthammer

Fate is fickle, power cyclical, and nothing is new under the sun. Especially in Washington, where after every election the losing party is sagely instructed to confess sin, rend garments and rethink its principles lest it go the way of the Whigs. And where the victor is hailed as the new Caesar, facing an open road to domination.

And where Barack Obama, already naturally inclined to believe his own loftiness, graciously accepted the kingly crown and proceeded to ride his reelection success to a crushing victory over the GOP at the fiscal cliff, leaving a humiliated John Boehner & Co. with nothing but naked tax hikes.

Thus emboldened, Obama turned his inaugural and State of the Union addresses into a left-wing dream factory, from his declaration of war on global warming (on a planet where temperatures are the same as 16 years ago and in a country whose CO2 emissions are at a 20-year low) to the invention of new entitlements — e.g., universal preschool for 5-year-olds— for a country already drowning in debt.

To realize his dreams, Obama sought to fracture and neutralize the congressional GOP as a prelude to reclaiming the House in 2014. This would enable him to fully enact his agenda in the final two years of his presidency, usually a time of lame-duck paralysis. Hail the Obama juggernaut.

Well, that story — excuse me, narrative — lasted exactly six months. The Big Mo is gone. Read More

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas: Obama “Approved By The Elites” Because He Says What They “Expect From A Black Person"

May 2, 2013
http://weaselzippers.us/

"So true, that’s why the left is so freaked out by people like Allen West, Clarence Thomas and Dr. Ben Carson."

Q: Did you ever expect to see an African American president during your lifetime?

THOMAS: Oh yeah, I guess I’ve always thought there would be black coaches, heads of universities — maybe again as I said I’m naïve but the thing I always knew is that it would have to be a black president who was approved by the elites and the media because anybody that they didn’t agree with, they would take apart. And that will happen with virtually — you pick your person, any black person who says something that is not the prescribed things that they expect from a black person will be picked apart. You can pick anybody, don’t pick me, pick anyone who has decided not to go along with it; there’s a price to pay. So, I always assumed it would be somebody the media had to agree with.

Q: Have you ever met President Obama, have you had a chance to speak with him?

THOMAS: No. Well, in passing more he had the chance to visit the court, it’s not like…I don’t do a lot of Washington and I’m not into politics, so I mean there’s not that many occasion. I shook hands with him at the inauguration to be polite but I’ve had no in depth conversation.

Free speech is in for a rough ride

The President of the United States comes out in favor of gay marriage. An NBA journeyman player announces that he is gay. The media hails this as a triumphal event. The President of the United States calls the player to congratulate him on his "courage." Some even call this a "Jackie Robinson" moment. What is this all about? Warning: It is about a lot more than people being free to be themselves and it is going to impact every single one of us.

The whole "gay marriage," and "gay athlete" progression is entirely about turning the tables on traditional values and especially Christian belief. This movement, which claims historic prejudice against homosexuality, is now all about prejudice against those who disagree, visited upon people who uphold the traditional view of marriage and sexuality. Those who formerly and even now claim persecution and their allies in government and media have become the persecutors. Privately, people of traditional faith will still be able to hold to their convictions, but what the purveyors of public morality are after is a total ban on all public dissent from the gay agenda.

It took precisely one day for this to occur after NBA player Jason Collins came out as gay. Chris Broussard, who covers the NBA for ESPN, speaking on ESPN's Outside the Lines, said "I don't agree with homosexuality." Broussard also said people engaging in "premarital sex or adultery" were "walking in open rebellion to God and Jesus Christ. I think it's a sin, as I think all sex outside of marriage between a man and a woman is," Broussard said. ESPN later expressed regret about Broussard's comments calling them a "distraction." Distraction from what? A distraction from the one-sided narrative that proclaims any pro-gay revelation as the essence of progress and enlightenment. You see the trend here. Gay person comes out. Media and presidents praise. Any alternative view doesn't fit the culturally imposed proper conclusion. Make no mistake. Free speech is in for a rough ride.

But pay attention as this trend emerges. The promise of "progressive views" is not just the disingenuous claim about "freedom to love." It is also the license to suppress and dominate institutions, individuals and the very common language we share. Before long, every public institution in America will enforce one view on these matters. No other view will be tolerated. The irony is that they will claim "diversity" as their motive. But when the traditional view slips out, it will be lambasted back into the bushes where they believe it belongs.

MSM face Benghazigate dilemma

May 2, 2013

By Thomas Lifson

For the moment only Fox and conservative media are covering the revelations of a Benghazi whistleblower, limiting knowledge of the disturbing revelations to perhaps a third of the public, if that. The vast pool of low information voters will never know that there is anything to be concerned about regarding the slaughter of four Americans and the apparent lies and cover-up that has followed from Obama administration.

And neither will the medium information voters who get their news solely from MSM outlets, those which generally follow the lead of the New York Times in deciding what is and isn't a news story. The MSM are erecting a cofferdam around the whistleblower revelations which cast doubt on official testimony. But can such a barrier survive the promised House hearings?

Attorney Victoria Toensing is attempting to gain legal shielding for her four whistleblower clients and running into difficulty, an issue reported on Fox News the day before, which President Obama claimed to be unaware of in his last presser. Never shy about speaking out, Toensing should not be underestimated. A former client of hers told me she is "tough as they come," and that squares with my impression of her too. And her husband and legal partner Joseph DeGenova is no slouch either. Read More

The Disgusting Blessing of an Aborted Child and My Miracle Story of how I was conceived through rape and given Life

My Miracle Story...Leilani

It requires a certain quality of moral opacity for our Dear Mr. Obama, who stands in the breach as tribune for all things weak and powerless, to pronounce God's Blessing on a room filled to the brim with those mighty champions of nascent selective infanticide. If I had not read the speech myself, I probably would never have believed that a President of the United States of America could, in the span of a few days, surround himself -- nay, metaphorically smear himself with the blood of dead elementary school children in the service of disemboweling American Constitutional liberties, and then proceed to speak glowingly of clinical murder as "health care" to a crowd at Planned Parenthood.

In the midst of the Kermit Gosnell trial, which reads as ugly and obscene as any teen blood-soaked horror flick, our Nobel Prize-winning Man of the Millennium has decided that the cessation of public funding for clinical butchery is not to be countenanced and has assured the assembled throngs at Murder Incorporated that the House that Eugenicist Margaret Sanger built "is not going anywhere." To me, it would seem to be beyond the pale of credulity that his parting words of "God Bless You" were not offered as a touch of irony or sarcasm. But heaven forbid! His blessing was meant as a genuine heartfelt appreciation for men and women who most assuredly cast their votes for him and who undoubtedly mirrored his Progressive view that the life or death of human chattel should ultimately be dependent upon the mood or inclination of the slavemaster. Indeed, Obama himself has never criticized late term or partial-birth murder: even if abortion is responsible for the loss of over 1500 black children per day who might in fact have grown up and voted for Progressive causes and candidates. In politics, this is called a calculated trade-off. Read More

Mourn For America: Whenever A Tragedy Happens They Take Even More Freedom From Us

Martial Law In Boston - Photo from shtfplan.com

April 21, 2013
theeconomiccollaspeblog.com

What in the world is happening to America? Over the past couple of decades, the federal government has used just about every major national tragedy as an excuse to take even more liberty and freedom away from us. And without a doubt, the Boston Marathon bombing was a great national tragedy. I don't think that any of us will forget the images that we have seen over the past week. All of those responsible for this attack should be exposed, hunted down, tried and punished. Unfortunately, what always seems to happen is that it is the American people that seem to get punished the most for these tragedies. Over the past couple of decades we have been told again and again that if we will just give up a little bit more freedom that the authorities will be able to keep us safe. But you know what? It is IMPOSSIBLE for them to keep us safe. There is no way in the world that the federal government can protect us from all of the bad guys in the world. We are a country that is absolutely teeming with "soft targets" - malls, churches, schools, concerts, sporting events, etc. No matter how much money we spend, there is no way that the federal government will ever be able to provide enough security for all of those soft targets. Even if our society morphed into something that resembled George Orwell's "1984", the government would still never be able to guarantee our safety. Unfortunately, in the aftermath of this attack there will inevitably be calls for "increased security" and "more anti-terror legislation". The answer always seems to be to expand the emerging police state. But it is getting to the point where all of this "security" is becoming absolutely suffocating, and yet it doesn't seem to be keeping us any safer. So where does all of this end? Are we going to completely throw out the entire U.S. Constitution in a desperate attempt to feel a little bit safer? Or are we going to choose to live our lives without fear no matter what others may try to do to us?

Benjamin Franklin once made the following statement...

"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

Sadly, the way that the American people have responded to national tragedies over the past couple of decades would have made our founding fathers greatly ashamed. The American people have been way too willing to give up liberty in exchange for the promise of safety.

We have been told that the terrorists hate us because of our liberties and freedoms. But we have also been told that in order to be "safe" from those terrorists we have got to give up those liberties and freedoms.

So who is really winning?

We seem to have forgotten some of the most basic lessons in life.

If you cower in fear when a bully comes after you, what is the bully going to do?

The bully is just going to keep coming after you because his actions are being rewarded.

Those that are trying to create fear love it when you become fearful. It is exactly what they want.

The appropriate response to a great national tragedy is to reject fear and to continue to boldly live our lives as if nobody could ever shake us.

But instead, the atmosphere of fear in America continues to grow.

And yes, there are common sense things that our government should be doing to keep bad guys away from us.

For example, the number one thing that the federal government should be doing is to secure the border. Every single day, thousands upon thousands of people that we don't know anything about pour into this country. And yet the federal government has absolutely refused to secure our borders for decades.

Until the federal government secures our borders, they should not ask any of us to sacrifice a single ounce of liberty or freedom in the name of "national security".

But even as the Obama administration treats our border security like a joke and continues to import huge numbers of people from radical areas of the Middle East, they continue to tell us that "domestic terror" is the next great threat that we are facing.

Many of our other politicians are buying into this philosophy as well. Senator Lindsey Graham says that the attack in Boston is a perfect example of "why the homeland is the battlefield".

So if "the homeland is the battlefield", then who is the enemy?

Well, a U.S. Army Reserve training presentation recently identified evangelical Christians as "religious extremists", and since Barack Obama entered the White House there have been numerous government reports that have identified Christians, "constitutionalists", patriots, anti-abortion activists, conspiracy theorists and gun owners as "potential terrorists".

So where does all of this end?

Are the American people rapidly becoming the enemy?

Will we be constantly scared to death of one another?

Will the entire nation exist in a never ending environment of fear?

Will we eventually have the TSA and the Department of Homeland Security patrolling every mall, every church, every school, every concert and every sporting event?

Unfortunately, the bad guys will always be able to find a soft target, and there will be more terror attacks in the future no matter how much security we pour on. Once upon a time this nation was greatly blessed with peace and security, but now that hedge of protection is gone. The federal government could give the Department of Homeland Security trillions of dollars a year and it would not make much of a difference. We live in a world that is becoming increasingly unstable, and bad guys are going to do bad things.

Yes, there are some common sense things that we can do to make our nation more secure. At this point, the federal government is not doing most of those things.

But no matter how hard we try, bad things are going to happen. When those bad things happen, what we can control is how we respond to them.

That is why what just happened in Boston is so alarming. The entire city was put into a complete lockdown for nearly two days. It was a preview of what could happen nationwide if martial law was declared. It was an over the top display of force that clearly demonstrated to the rest of the world how incredibly frightened we are.

Some of the things we saw in Boston were absolutely disgraceful. For example, you can see video of an innocent Watertown family being ripped out of their home at gunpoint right here.

Do you know what this tells the rest of the world?

It tells them that terrorism works.

It tells them that one small incident is enough to send the entire nation into a full-blown panic attack.

You can see some more photos of martial law in Boston right here. Instead of making things better, this is just going to make the atmosphere of fear in this nation even worse.

And you know what? None of those heavily armed men even found the second suspect. He was actually found by a neighbor that had gone out to take a smoke.

Like most Americans, I absolutely hate terrorism in all the forms that it takes.

But we are not going to prevent future terrorism by treating the U.S. Constitution like a piece of trash. We have now shown the world that we are willing to throw out our most important constitutional rights the moment that a "threat" arises, and this is just going to encourage even more terrorism.

You see, those that engage in terrorism want attention and they want to create fear. When we give them attention and we allow them to create fear we give them exactly what they want.

Is there anyone out there that can defend what we just saw in Boston? I can't imagine any American that still loves the Constitution being proud of what just happened. I think that Karl Denninger put it quite eloquently the other day...

By effectively occupying a part of the Boston metro area they made an utter mockery of the 4th Amendment. There was no “hot pursuit” and thus no argument available to them allowing searches of private property without consent or a warrant. Not only did they search without a warrant there were multiple reports through the day of seizure of firearms, among other things.

Sadly, most Americans seem to be more than willing to disregard the U.S. Constitution these days. Most of them are incredibly scared and they just want someone in a position of authority to assure them that they will be safe.

So I am sure that in the months ahead we will see "security" get even tighter in this country. With each subsequent tragedy, it will just get tighter and tighter until we can barely even breathe.

This is not the answer to any of our problems. In fact, it is just going to make many of the problems that we are facing as a nation far worse.

Americans Under Siege – Has Tomorrow Become A Reality?

April 27, 2013
alt-market.com

This article was written by Gaye Levy and originally published at Backdoor Survival

Just a little over a year ago, President Obama signed an Executive Order titled National Defense Resources Preparedness. This act stirred up a hornet's nest of controversy – both for and against. At one end of the spectrum were those that thought this was an overt act signalizing unilateral militarization of our country. Others felt this was a ho-hum restatement of existing presidential controls.

Whatever your feelings at the time, it is now a year later and events of the past couple of weeks bring more questions than answers to those who seek the truth. Sadly, it is my opinion that Americans are under siege by our own government and by the mysterious and secretive powers that control our elected officials. More and more, ordinary citizens are filled with angst as we witness the wholesale cannibalization of our freedom and of the Constitution.

To echo my own words: I begin to wonder whether there is some grand plan. Perhaps there is some master puppeteer poised to pull our strings when and if the rise to elitism reaches the pinnacle.

So with much personal angst, I have begun to believe that the rank-and-file citizens of the United States of America are being herded down the path to a Police State. Or, better put, will soon be running from the rising tsunami of the police state.
