IMF chief and possible French presidential contender Dominique Strauss-Kahn was taken into police custody and is expected to be charged on Sunday with an alleged sexual assault of a hotel maid in New York City, police said.
Strauss-Kahn, a key player in the world's response to the 2007-09 financial meltdown and in Europe's ongoing debt crisis, was removed from an Air France plane 10 minutes before it was to take off for Paris from John F Kennedy International Airport, New York police spokesman Paul Browne said.
Browne said police expected Strauss-Kahn would be formally arrested and charged: "He will be charged with a criminal sexual act, attempted rape and unlawful imprisonment."

Texas is a fiercely independent-minded state, and it also turns out that Texans are tired of being sexually molested by government agents at the airport. That's why Texas State Congressman Rep. David Simpson decided to do something about it: He sponsored a bill which makes it a crime for security agents to touch "the anus, sexual organ, buttocks, or breast of another person," even though clothing.
Well, gee, then that basically scraps the entire TSA playbook of tyranny. If they can't touch your anus, sex organs and breasts, then I guess they'll just have to go back home and touch themselves instead. In a demonstration of the company's shocking ignorance concerning the nature of radioactive particles, the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) has announced that it is going to place large polyester domes -- yes, you read that right -- around the damaged reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in an alleged attempt to help contain radioactive particles. The polyester domes will begin appearing next month, and all are expected to be in place by the end of the year, say reports.

There are millions upon millions of Americans that are sitting at home on their couches right now wondering why they lost their jobs and why nobody will hire them. Millions of others are wondering why the only jobs they can get are jobs that a high school student could do. Families all across America are wondering why it seems like their wages never go up but the price of food and the price of gas continue to skyrocket. We are facing some very serious long-term economic problems in this country, and we need to educate the American people about why the collapse of the economy is happening. If the American people don't understand why they are losing their jobs, why they are losing their homes and why they are drowning in debt then they are going to keep on doing all of the same things that they have been doing. In yet another one of Obama's highly touted campaign speeches (are there any other type?), the President once again chose to use derisive rhetoric to whip up the masses against those horrible Republicans. Obama attempted to put the GOP on the defensive by suggesting that Republicans not only want the country surrounded by a moat to prevent evil immigrants from entering, but that in order to ensure success, they would fill the moat with alligators.
Apparently, the only result that Obama achieved from these ridiculous and extremely un-presidential one-liners was an electorate feeling complete and utter disgust at his obnoxious display of arrogance with regard to such an important domestic issue. The country is in economic turmoil and is being threatened by terrorists who originate in the Middle East and Northern Africa but who are crossing our borders undetected, and our president wants to lead from behind so that he can campaign (and bash Republicans) from in front.
Well Mr. President, I am proud to say that I do want alligators in a moat that protects our country. And I hope to God that you have one or more decision-makers in your administration that understand that it will take a lot more than killing Osama bin Laden and occasional drone strikes in Afghanistan to protect the citizens who hired you for that job. You have to wonder what on earth the Obama administration hopes to achieve by continually insulting the intelligence of the American people, after the official narrative behind the alleged Bin Laden raid was changed yet again, presumably in a desperate effort to counter the revelation that the White House “situation room” photos were staged.
After first claiming that Navy SEALS recorded the entire 40 minute raid of the alleged Bin Laden compound live on their head cameras, CIA Director Leon Panetta subsequently backtracked, saying the video feed was cut off when the SEALS entered the building, but now the official narrative has been reversed yet again with the claim that SEALS did in fact record the whole episode.
According to a CBS News report, “The 40 minutes it took to kill bin Laden and scoop his archives into garbage bags were all recorded by tiny helmet cameras worn by each of the 25 SEALs.”
This mirrors the first version of the narrative which preceded the release of “situation room” photos that purported to show Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and White House security staff watching the raid unfold live. In one photo, Clinton is show with her hand over her mouth as if anxiously reacting in shock to what she is witnessing.
At the time, the corporate media reported that these images represented the moment when “The leader of the free world saw the terror chief shot in the left eye.”
However, CIA Director Leon Panetta subsequently revealed that there was a 25 minute blackout when the live feed was cut, and that Obama and Clinton saw nothing of the raid after the SEALS had entered the compound. This led to accusations that the “situation room” photos were staged, which prompted Hillary Clinton to claim that the dramatic ‘hand over mouth’ image was in fact merely her coughing.
But now the story has flipped yet again, into its third incarnation, going back to the first claim that there was no blackout of the video feed. Presumably in a few days the story will be changed a fourth time when the White House is presented with a new anomaly that it can’t properly explain.

The development is ultimately a victory for the American people, he said.
“The guy is dead. That is good,” Bush said of bin Laden. “Osama’s death is a great victory in the war on terror. He was held up as a leader.”
“The intelligence services deserve a lot of credit. They built a mosaic of information, piece by piece,” he said, claiming no credit for himself.

Democracy is the worst form of government, Sir Winston Churchill once said... except for every other form of government. In other words, all forms of government are atrociously bad, and democracy may merely be the least bad of the bunch. I certainly wouldn't want to live under a dictatorship, socialism or communism. So I like the idea of democracy, and I wish it would work better for America. But it isn't working. That much is clear. Democracy is failing America, and we can't just blame it on the politicians and the corporations. People actually vote for their own self-destruction by electing professional liars to represent them.

Democracy is the worst form of government, Sir Winston Churchill once said... except for every other form of government. In other words, all forms of government are atrociously bad, and democracy may merely be the least bad of the bunch. I certainly wouldn't want to live under a dictatorship, socialism or communism. So I like the idea of democracy, and I wish it would work better for America. But it isn't working. That much is clear. Democracy is failing America, and we can't just blame it on the politicians and the corporations. People actually vote for their own self-destruction by electing professional liars to represent them.

When liberal investor George Soros gave $1.8 million to National Public Radio , it became part of the firestorm of controversy that jeopardized NPR’s federal funding. But that gift only hints at the widespread influence the controversial billionaire has on the mainstream media. Soros, who spent $27 million trying to defeat President Bush in 2004, has ties to more than 30 mainstream news outlets – including The New York Times, Washington Post, the Associated Press, NBC and ABC.
Prominent journalists like ABC’s Christiane Amanpour and former Washington Post editor and now Vice President Len Downie serve on boards of operations that take Soros cash. This despite the Society of Professional Journalists' ethical code stating: “avoid all conflicts real or perceived.”
