Who do you serve when you go to war

Patriotism Hijacked
Howard Zinn (1922-2010)

Most normal people want to contribute and give back.

Some people take it to an extreme and are willing to risk their lives.

These are noble impulses.

The problem is not thinking the whole proposition through.

Are you really “serving your country” by going where the devils in Washington send you to?

The greatest shame in America is that many of the nation’s most honorable, hard working, courageous people are serving the government instead of the nation’s highest principles.

There is s world of difference as Howard Zinn makes so eloquently clear in this short clip.

Spending Insanely While the Economy Collapses

"When you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice—you may know that your society is doomed."

America is a sovereign nation, a constitutional Republic that will celebrate the 235th anniversary of its declaration of independence in 1776 and the 223rd anniversary of its Constitution which became effective when the State of New Hampshire became the ninth State to ratify it in 1788.

By most indications it is a nation in its death throes. Its original values and virtues are being jettisoned and that is always a sign of internal rot. The passage of a law legalizing gay, same-sex marriage in New York State is just one example. It becomes the sixth State to do so.

Families are regarded as the keystone to a healthy society. When they begin to disintegrate or are redefined as same-sex, most observers conclude that a range of social problems will ensue.

Texans to Launch ‘Citizen Filibuster’ Over TSA Groping

"Campaign seeks to pressure public servants into following will of the people"

June 27, 2011
Paul Joseph Watson

Texans outraged by repeated attempts on behalf of state representatives working in consort with the federal government to kill legislation that would ban invasive TSA groping are set to launch a ‘citizen filibuster’ that seeks to pressure public servants into following the will of the people.

Despite the fact that the anti-groping legislation in Texas passed the House unanimously last month and also looked set to sail through the Senate, repeated dirty tricks by the likes of Speaker Joe Straus and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst have sabotaged a bill that merely seeks to reinforce laws already codified in the Fourth Amendment.

With lawmakers going AWOL for a vote on the legislation Friday, we have now learned that a hearing by the Texas House State Affairs Committee scheduled to take place today has been cancelled and the bill is all but dead. The legislation is likely to be replaced with a toothless Joint House Resolution that does little to address the epidemic of TSA abuse, most recently characterized by an incident in which TSA goons forced a 95-year-old sick woman to remove an adult diaper for screening, and merely recommends that Congress pick up the baton.  Read More

Composing Your Alt-Market Resume

"What items or goods can you provide for others that they will need in a poor economic environment?"

June 27, 2011

By Brandon Smith

In today’s backwards business world, it is not uncommon to find that the people who are most willing to misrepresent themselves are the people who find the greatest success. Honesty, integrity, and honor, are not exactly respected qualities in a land of cutthroats and thieves. The time of the corporate pirate and the middle-management turncoat, however, is soon coming to an end. In the future, it will be our sincerity, and our tangible ability, that will allow us to make our way in life. No longer will the ass kissers of the world have the upper hand. There will be no “ladder” to climb. Our personal progress will be determined by our steady will and the level of effort we wish to put forth, NOT by the “insiders” we happen to know. It will be a far different atmosphere than we have been conditioned to expect…

Those who are able to cast off the old and outdated method of business will do well. Those who are able to adapt to a destabilized economic environment and focus on necessities rather than extravagances will survive. Others likely will not. The leaders of the current business system will no doubt find themselves paupers in an Alternative Economy in which their limited skill set is rendered obsolete.  Read More

Legislating Through Regulations

June 25, 2011

By Frank Salvato

I have often written about “the bright shiny thing,” an event that is sure to catch the mainstream media’s and public’s eye while, in fact, something much more important is taking place. It is a common practice amongst politicos from both sides of the aisle, but a practice heavily employed by the Progressive Left. Movies have even been made about it. Wag the Dog comes to mind as a perfect, albeit fictitious, example of the execution of a “bright, shiny thing” strategy.

The Obama Administration, having completely annihilated any claim to being a “transparent” government, uses the “bright, shiny thing” strategy with an artful, even if nefarious, prowess, doing so while maintaining plausible deniability. As a life-long student of Chicago politics, to watch this administration employ the “bright, shiny thing” strategy is to watch an exercise in political beauty, even if it is being employed to usurp the founding philosophies of our nation, while paying short-shrift to the United States Constitution.

The Obama Administration’s use of the “bright, shiny thing” strategy has been one of subtle consistency. Shortly after Mr. Obama’s election, then-Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, was quoted as saying,

“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that, it’s an opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before...”   Read More

Mexican Convoy of Soldiers, Weapons Gets ‘Lost’ & Ends Up Crossing U.S. Border

June 24, 20111The Blaze

A convoy of three Mexican military trucks loaded down with soldiers and weapons may have violated territorial sovereignty near Laredo, TX on Thursday, driving through a border checkpoint and crossing into the United States.

KGNS-TV reports the crossing happened at a section known as Bridge Number Two:

According to the station, which interviewed Customs and Border Protection, officers at the crossing were baffled when they heard the trucks were on their way and called Mexican authorities:

A CBP spokesperson says they got on the phone with Mexican authorities after being alerted that the military trucks were heading their direction loaded down with soldiers and weapons.

Mexican leaders say the soldiers, who had just been deployed to Nuevo Laredo, didn’t know the area, got lost and then made their way through Bridge Two.

It’s unclear if the U.S. border agents tried to stop the troops or let them through.

This isn’t the first time Mexican troops have crossed the border recently. In 2008, controversy ensued after Mexican troops crossed into the U.S. and detained a border agent:

Al Gore, Agenda 21 And Population Control

The rabid "environmentalists" behind the green agenda intend to take all human activity and put it into a box called "sustainable development".

June 23, 2011
The American Dream

Imagine going to sleep one night and waking up many years later in a totally different world. In this futuristic world, literally everything you do is tightly monitored and controlled by control freak bureaucrats in the name of "sustainable development" and with the goal of promoting "the green agenda". An international ruling body has centralized global control over all human activity. What you eat, what you drink, where you live, how warm or cold your home can be and how much fuel you can use is determined by them. Anyone that dissents or that tries to rebel against the system is sent off for "re-education". The human population is 90 percent lower than it is today in this futuristic society, and all remaining humans have been herded into tightly constricted cities which are run much like prisons. Does all of that sound good to you? Well, this is what Agenda 21 is all about.  Read More

Geithner: “No alternative” but to raise taxes on small businesses

Jun 23, 2011 By Dan Cleary

Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC) did a fantastic job yesterday making Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner squirm in front of the House Small Business Committee. Geithner claimed there was “no alternative” but to raise taxes on America’s small businesses, unless we wanted to (gasp!) shrink government programs like education. So, rather than make even the tiniest reduction in the size of our bloated federal government, the Obama administration instead would rather raise taxes on job-creating small businesses in the midst of a horrific recession.

And what good would that do? Not much, according to the CBO, which just reported that our deficits would be unsustainable even with Clinton-era tax revenue.

Ellmers wasn’t buying Geithner’s mumbo-jumbo, and she even got in a little zinger at the end!

Awful… President Obama Makes Horrible Mistake Dishonoring Medal of Honor Winners

June 23, 2011
By Jim Hoft

This was absolutely awful.

Barack Obama made another horrible mistake today.
The president visited the 10th Mountain Division today and congratulated them on their service. Then he told the soldiers that he had given the Medal of Honor to Jared Monti who came back from Iraq alive.
Jared Monti was actually killed in Iraq in 2006.
How sad.
“First time I saw 10th Mountain Division, you guys were in southern Iraq. When I went back to visit Afghanistan, you guys were the first ones there. I had the great honor of seeing some of you because a comrade of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award the Medal of Honor to who actually came back and wasn’t receiving it posthumously.
Blackfive caught the president’s horrible gaffe.
As we all know, SSG Sal Giunta, of the 173rd Airborne, was the first living recipient (2011) of the MOH who fought in Iraq/Afganistan. SFC Jared Monti, 10th Mountain Division, was KIA in Afghanistan in 2006. He was posthumously awarded the MOH by Obama in 2009.
How does the Commander-in-Chief mix these heroes up? He put that medal around Giunta’s neck and he stood with Monti’s parents as they grieved.
Here’s the video.

This ranks up there as one of his worst gaffes ever.
How awful.

A Firestorm On The Eastern Horizon

"If you are a corporate banking globalist with visions of Utopia dancing in your head, what do you do? You can try to confront the American people and Islamic culture separately, or, you can pit your two biggest frustrations against each other in a brutal deathmatch while you lounge in your wicker easy chair and sip tropical drinks."

The Middle East is and always has been an incredible waste of time, energy, capital, and of course, human lives. Every civilization that has attempted to tame and corral the region has met with resounding frustration and defeat. Every empire that moves to extend its borders around its existing cultures has withered under the strain of constant war and revolution. Long before petroleum became a sought after commodity and long after its free flow was established, the Middle East has been used as a fulcrum point for turning nations and worlds inside out. One might begin to wonder where the West’s mindless obsession with the place actually comes from...

From crusades for the holy land, to crusades for oil, to crusades for “WMD’s” and the “downtrodden masses”; we have been regaled for centuries by governments and elitists with elaborate rationalizations for indefinite war within the cradle of civilization. Our government in particular has seen fit to topple dictatorships, install new dictatorships, embroil our troops in the quagmire of nation building, instigate social instability and civil unrest, fund terrorist organizations, elevate madmen, and then brandish them like weapons to frighten the American public into relinquishing their civil liberties. Every decade, and every new layer of conflict, brings the U.S. closer to the breaking point, and closer to bankruptcy.  Read More

Planes, trains, and automobiles: TSA to grope travelers on all forms of transportation

June 22, 2011
By Ethan A. Huff

The enemy of freedom, the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA), as well as its mother ship, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), is on a mission to grope every single traveler in the US. Whether you travel by airplane, train, ship, bus, freight truck, or potentially in the future even your own private vehicle, the TSA wants to be there to treat you like a criminal and feel up your private parts.

According to a recent report in Mother Jones, the TSA has requested 12 more units for its growing fleet of Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR) teams, which are nothing more than unconstitutional security checkpoints eerily similar to those implemented throughout Germany during Hitler's reign.  Read More

National Debt

"A horrific economic collapse is coming.  It is going to change the world.  You better get ready."
June 22, 2011
The Economic Collapse

It really is hard to find the words to describe the true horror of the national debt. The U.S. government has been on the greatest debt binge in all of human history, and a day of reckoning is coming that is going to be so painful that it is going to shock America to the core. We have lived so far above our means for so long that none of us really has any concept of what "normal" is like anymore. The United States has enjoyed the greatest party in the history of the world, but now this decades-old party is ending and the bills are coming due. It was Dick Cheney who famously said that "deficits don't matter". Well, try telling that to the nation of Greece right about now. The horror that Greece is just beginning to experience is a preview of what is going to happen to us as well. Only when it happens to us it is going to be so much worse, because when we go down we are going to bring the entire global financial system down with us.  Read More

Corruption In America

"When times get really hard, people will do whatever they feel they need to do in order to survive."

June 22, 2011
The American Dream

In the United States today, it is not just the economy that is crumbling. The entire fabric of society is coming apart as well. Literally almost wherever you look you can find rampant corruption in America. Our federal government is corrupt, our state and local governments are corrupt, our corporations are corrupt and unfortunately average Americans seem to become more corrupt all the time. As corruption becomes widespread in America, trust is breaking down. It is very difficult to know who to trust these days. But a society cannot function without trust. So what are we going to do when all the trust is gone?  Read More

CBO: Obama’s Failed Stimulus Bill Almost Doubled U.S. Debt…

June  22, 2011
By Conn Carroll

A new report from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) finds that President Obama’s economic stimulus program helped nearly double U.S. debt.
The 2011 Long-Term Budget Outlook, released Wednesday morning, reports that the “the combination of automatic budgetary responses” and Obama’s stimulus “had a profound impact on the federal budget.” According to CBO projections, before Obama’s stimulus became law, federal debt equaled 36 percent of GDP and was projected to decline slightly over the next few years. Instead, thanks in large part to the stimulus, debt reached 62 percent of GDP by 2010.  Read More

Mark Levin explains America to Fareed Zakaria

June 21, 2011
The Right Scoop

Zakaria wants to change the Constitution to ‘fix’ our national and senatorial elections to make them more democratic. He doesn’t like the Electoral College and he doesn’t like the fact that every state has the same amount of senators despite the population of the people. He cites that Constitution has been changed 27 times and that unlike the founders who created a new document in Philadelphia instead of using the Articles of Confederation, he just wants to make a small change to it.

Levin decided Zakaria needed a lesson in America and proceeded to explain why we hold our elections the way we do, noting that Presidents and Senators were never meant to be directly elected by the population. It was all a apart of what made us a Republic. He continued on with the issue of slavery (as cited by Zakaria) and it blossomed into a great monologue about why the founders worked so hard to create the America we know and love.
