We always suspected it.

Deceased pop star Michael Jackson, who admitted to sleeping with children at his Neverland Ranch, has been exposed as a "serial pedophile" according to a report based on FBI files in the Sunday Mirror.

The report claims that Jackson paid off 2 dozen families of children he molested, including some child stars as well as his maid's son.

The sordidness of this report is difficult to read.

While Pellicano is now in jail for racketeering and wire-tapping, his investigator told Sunday People he was hired to help dig the dirt on Jackson and make potential problems disappear.

He claims Jackson was obsessed with child porn and preyed on the sons of friends.

The investigator said he kept copies of FBI documents naming 17 boys - including five child actors and two dancers - Jacko targeted for abuse.

These included a European boy and the sons of a screenwriter.

The sleuth said at least three boys were paid to stay silent, with the family of a famous film actor given about $596,300 not to talk to the media.

He said a Neverland maid was allegedly paid $2 million after accusing her boss of molesting her son, while another woman who knew her son was being assaulted 'turned a blind eye to it because if it didn't bother him, it didn't bother her'.

The files on the alleged victims were reportedly compiled when lawyers drew up a list of 'potential threats' to Jackson's image in the early 1990s, when he was on a world tour.

But after the father of Jordan Chandler publicly claimed his son had been abused, other similar accusations began flooding the media.

Chandler was paid a hefty sum to stay out of the limelight.

'His [Jackson's] actress friend Elizabeth Taylor encouraged him to hire Pellicano ­because she had used him to stop dirt on her drug problems being released in the media,' the investigator, who spent two years on the case, alleged.

'Pellicano had links to key figures in the US media and made them dance to his tune.

'With the help of people like Pellicano, the world and his fans never heard what took place at Neverland over 15 years.'

While Jackson was found not guilty of abusing a 13-year-old boy in 2005, the private eye insists the boxes of evidence he helped to collect showed 'Jackson was a serial child predator'.

The investigator said he didn't come forward to upset Jackson's children, but to finally make public that authorities have shocking information on the dead star that has never been released.

However long-time Jackson lawyer and friend Brian Oxman said he thought only Chandler had been paid off, but admitted the 'gift list on Michael's income tax returns was astounding'.

Is it a coincidence that Jackson's teenage daughter tried to kill herself recently? Did she know the story was about to bust wide open?

Such speculation can't be dismissed.

The moral corruption of a man who got away with molesting children because he was fabulously wealthy and able to buy their silence is astounding. You have to believe that the authorities must have suspected this of Jackson, and the idea that they didn't do anything to prevent further attacks is a kind of corruption too.

It also must not have been much of a secret in Jackson's inner circle of flaks and advisors. They, too, stink of corruption.

Expect a flood of lawsuits from other victims that will forever tar Michael Jackson's reputation while opening the eyes of his rabid fans who denied the pop star's guilt to the last.

In a few days, we will all have an opportunity to peacefully inflict a major psychological blow on the rapidly coalescing police state by the simple but powerful act of refusing to play along with the absurd pantomime on the 4th of July that we live in an even nominally free country – one with the rule of law, an operative Constitution and respect for individual rights. One that isn’t a thugocracy.

We can turn our backs on the flag. Decline to participate when urged to cheer and sing. No fireworks. No barbeques.

We can sit down – and bow our heads.

We can mention the unmentionable: That there is no longer any meaningful limit to the power of the government over our lives. No line beyond which it may not tread. That it lies, spies and tyrannizes.

We can admit to ourselves the shoddy – and frightening – reality bubbling up all around us.

By so doing, we can shatter the illusion that this government operates with anything remotely approximating our consent. This is absolutely essential. The 4th of July pantomime requires that we deny the obvious – that we instead pretend we’re free people living in a free country; one in which the government is accountable to the people, one in which the government is limited by law. One in which people can’t simply be dragooned into prisons without due process, held incommunicado, tortured. A country with a president who doesn’t have kill lists – or use the instruments of state power to punish and intimidate his political opponents. One in which citizens must be suspected of a crime before their personal correspondence is filched through and recorded for later use against them. One in which a traveler is free from arbitrary and random searches of his person and effects. One in which the attorney general of the United States isn’t able to get away with providing guns to gangs or brazenly lie about his use of the power of his office to go after political “enemies” rather than pursue justice.

All these things are everyday realities. And the reality is that the America we once celebrated on the Fourth of July is gone, replaced by something dark and ominous.

It is painfully obvious – so why pretend otherwise?

More to the point, why should we celebrate this ugly transformation?

Mourning is what’s called for.

If we decline to play along – and we still have this option, for the moment – we can shatter the idea that all of the foregoing loathsomeness is done with our approval. We can redefine the relationship between ourselves and the government in an honest way. No more pretending we’re free. No more pretending we’re protected by the rule of law – and not ruled over by a thug caste – a mafia – that does literally whatever it wants, to anyone, at any time – without any real consequences whatsoever. None of this requires elaboration. Everyone knows it to be true. The Constitution is no longer even payed lip service to. It is a sick joke.

We are in the position of a battered spouse who is expected to rouge her bruises and tell her friends that – whoops! – she fell down the stairs. But hubby is a swell guy.

I say, to hell with that.

I say, let’s not give them the cover they still apparently crave. I say, let’s out them – by openly displaying our bruises and no longer denying how we got them. Let the world see the true nature of the relationship between us and those who rule us.

China had its Tiananmen Moment – when one brave man stood up to a column of tanks and changed history by the simple act of refusing to play along. By peacefully forcing the thugocracy’s hand. It faced a hard choice: Either it could either run that man down in full view of live TV, crush him under the treads of a T-72 and thereby give real-life and incontrovertible evidence of the true nature of the relationship of the Chinese government vis-a-vis the average Chinese. Or it could back down – and thereby be compelled to alter the relationship in a way at least somewhat more favorable to the average Chinese.

We have a similar opportunity coming up. A chance to confront the police state by refusing to pretend it’s not a police state. By coming to grips with what it is.

And what it is is nothing to celebrate.

I urge you to join me this July 4th in turning your back on the flag – on all grotesque homilies to a country that no longer exists, because of the government which does exist – and which desperately wants us to keep on playing patty cake and pretending that it doesn’t.

For most Americans Valerie Jarrett, senior adviser to President Barack Obama, remains largely an unknown. To DC Insiders, she has positioned herself as the true power in the Oval Office – a woman who, like the President, has direct links to the Muslim world, both past – and present.

Weeks after widespread Middle East chaos first erupted, and with a growing number of nations now poised to join the likes of Egypt and Libya into all out rebellion, some are finally questioning the role played by the Obama White House in helping to hasten these events. Of primary concern is the reasoning behind Barack Obama’s quick repudiation of Egypt’s Mubarak, and near silence regarding Libya’s Gaddafi. Why such a disparity in tone between one uprising vs another? As was noted in a previous report, Mubarak, though certainly a dictator of some 30 years in power, was, outside of Israel, America’s strongest ally in the Middle East. Gadaffi was instead a 40 year enemy of the United States – a figure engaged in terrorism, and repeated anti-American rhetoric. And yet, within hours of the Egyptian uprising, Obama demanded Mubarak step aside, while days went by during the Libyan uprising, and Obama said nothing.

Perhaps the answer to this disparity can be found with President Obama’s closest and most powerful adviser – Valerie Jarrett.

Despite the information being easily accessed, most Americans are likely still unaware that Valerie Jarrett was born in Iran, and spent her first five years in that country. Like Barack Obama, Jarrett’s initial experience was not as an American, but an American/Muslim hybrid. According to an American Spectator report in August of 2008, the Obama campaign had initiated an aggressive program to hide Jarrett’s Iranian background. This program received significant help from certain media figures who were only too happy to comply with the Obama camp’s request that Jarrett’s Middle East ties were not made a public matter – even as Iranian.com declared Jarrett its “Iranian of the Day” that same month of August. Also during that same time period, Barack Obama admitted to the New York Times that, “I trust her (Jarrett) to speak for me, particularly when we’re dealing with delicate issues” and that he ran every important decision by her first.

Jarrett’s family history is rife with radical ties, including those of her father-in-law Vernon Jarrett, a supporter of such communist-American icons of the 1940s as Langston Hughes. Vernon Jarrett was the strongest link to Chicago’s Hyde Park environment that would be of such great influence on Valerie Jarrett, and then through her, shape both Barack and Michelle Obama’s adult outlook upon American and its place in the world. Again largely ignored by the media in 2008, Chicago’s Hyde Park was home to such radical figures as the socialist Arnold Wolf, an anti-Israel rabbi (yes, those do in fact exist) who had pushed for increased support for the terrorist PLO. At around that same time Rabbi Wolf was also deeply involved with the Chicago Communist Party. Mr. Wolf declared in a 2008 Chicago Sun Times interview of other Hyde Park elites’ excitement over the political potential of a young Barack Obama a decade earlier, declaring they believed to have found in Obama, “A guy who could sell our product, and sell it with splendor!”

Some of those other Hyde Park leftist elites excited over the prospects of Barack Obama included domestic terrorists turned educators Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dorn, Tony Rezko, (a Syrian-American) Democrat Socialist member Jackie Grimshaw, Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakahn, and yes - Valerie Jarrett, already a central player in the Daley-run Chicago political machine, and prior to that, a member of the Harold Washington mayoral administration. Washington too was deeply involved with what some have described as the Chicago Communist Network. Within just a few short years of having been introduced to these radical Chicago figures, Barack Obama found himself as a newly elected State Senator, an author of a highly publicized book (though his own past showed little evidence of having a proclivity for writing, unlike his close neighbor Bill Ayers) and on an astonishing fast-track to national politics, all the while being guided/programmed by the Iranian-born Valerie Jarrett.

So this brings us to more recent events in the Middle East, and the seemingly contradictory message coming out of the Obama White House regarding uprisings throughout that region – and the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood both on those uprisings, and the muddled response of President Obama.

In Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood was constantly rebuked by the Mubarak regime – a regime that had for decades helped keep the peace between the Muslim world and Israel. Within hours of an uprising breaking out, President Barack Obama, who admitted every decision he makes is first run by Valerie Jarrett, spoke out against longtime American ally Hosni Mubarak and demanded the longtime Egyptian ruler step aside. It is in Egypt where the Muslim Brotherhood was founded, though since that time it has spread its considerable influence throughout the Muslim world. President Obama’s very public stance against Mubarak was in stark contrast to uprisings a year earlier in Iran (the birthplace of Valerie Jarrett) that saw a tepid response from the Obama administration – nary a word was spoken against the Iranian regime, or support given to the cause of the protesters.

Then came Libya, and again, similar to the lack of response President Obama had given to the Iranian uprising of a year earlier, and in stark contrast to the strong response given just a week prior regarding Egypt, Barack Obama said nothing. No words of support. No condemnation of Libya and its 40-year ruler Muammar Gaddafi, a man who had long supported terrorist attacks against America for decades – much like his Iranian counterparts.

So in essence, the Obama administration’s almost immediate response toward Hasni Mubarak, a figure who had been an essential ally to the United States in the always-volatile region of the Middle East, was to demand he relinquish power in favor of the uprising – an uprising largely manufactured by the Muslim Brotherhood. But in the case of Libya, a nation long ruled by an anti-American state-sponsored terrorism madman, the Obama administration remained all but silent – much as it had done with Iran, also a nation that remains a bastion of anti-American terrorist activities. Surely these responses, or lack thereof, were manufactured at least in part by Valerie Jarrett, the figure President Obama admits he seeks approval from regarding all decisions.

Ah, and now the plot thickens even further, for just this week, Kamal al-Halbavi, a senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood gave a statement indicating his organization’s strong approval of the Iranian government for its “role in consolidating unity and solidarity among the Muslim countries throughout the world.” Al-Halbavi went on to also directly praise the leadership of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the very figure who has repeatedly declared the need to destroy Israel, boasted of being able to recruit “hundreds of suicide bombers a day”, and the belief that Islam’s intent is to “rule the world.”

A 2010 New York Times article cited the following regarding the Obama administration’s ever increasing involvement with Muslim groups – led of course by Iranian-born Valerie Jarrett: Muslim and Arab-American advocates have participated in policy discussions and received briefings from top White House aides and other officials on health care legislation, foreign policy, the economy,immigration and national security. They have met privately with a senior White House adviser, Valerie Jarrett.

Perhaps it is simple coincidence that the Muslim Brotherhood was given broad support by the Obama administration it its attempts to overthrow longtime American ally Hasni Mubarak in Egypt. And perhaps it is yet more coincidence that the Obama administration then remained largely silent when a similar uprising took place in Iran. And yes, it must be yet more coincidence that at the same time the Iranian-born Jarrett-led Obama administration was giving scant support to the protests in Iran, the Muslim Brotherhood was declaring its continued support for the Iranian regime and its radical anti-American president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, calling Ahmadinejad, “…the bravest man in the Muslim world.” The very man whose government has slaughtered vast numbers of its own people in order to keep them subservient.

But what of Libya you say? President Obama did finally speak out in support of the uprising in Libya, more than a week after those protests began. These statements were read by Barack Obama on February 23rd. Guess what group spoke for the first time in support of the Libyan uprising just a day prior to Obama’s own words? The Muslim Brotherhood – they did not give their own official support for the uprising until February 22nd – and only until after that statement from the Muslim Brotherhood came out did Barack Obama personally speak to the issue.

But of course, this is all just more coincidence layered upon more coincidence…right?

In the Wachowskis’ iconic 1999 film, The Matrix, the protagonist Neo is wakened from a lifelong slumber by Morpheus, a freedom fighter seeking to liberate humans from virtual slavery – a lifelong hibernation state – imposed by hyper-advanced artificial intelligence machines. With their minds plugged into a perfectly crafted virtual reality, few humans ever realize they are living in a dream world to such an extent that most are willing to give their lives in order to preserve the system that enslaves them.

Sound familiar? It should, because as I make clear in my new book, A Government of Wolves: The Emerging American Police State (available on Amazon.com and in stores), we too are living in a fantasy world carefully crafted to resemble a representative democracy, while in reality we are little more than slaves in thrall to an authoritarian regime, with its constant surveillance, manufactured media spectacles, secret courts, inverted justice, and violent repression of dissent. And for the few who dare to challenge the status quo such as Edward Snowden, they are assured of being branded either as conspiratorialists, alarmists, lunatics or outright traitors.

So well-oiled and interconnected are the cogs, wheels and gear shifts in our government machinery that it can be near to impossible to decipher where the fault lies when something goes awry. What some are slowly coming to realize, however, is that the mechanism itself has changed. Its purpose is no longer to keep our republic running smoothly. To the contrary, this particular contraption’s purpose is to keep the corporate police state in power.

Just consider how insidious and incestuous the various “parts” of the mechanism have become.

Congress. Perhaps the most notorious offenders and most obvious culprits in the creation of the corporate-state, Congress has proven itself to be both inept and avaricious, oblivious champions of an authoritarian system that is systematically dismantling their constituents’ fundamental rights. Congress’ most grievous behavior, however, is its failure to bring the president to task, who for all intents and purposes now operates above the law. The precedent set during the Bush administration of Congressmen going along with senseless and illegal White House policies has turned the office of the president into an untouchable, unstoppable force.

The President. Despite having ridden into office on a wave of optimism and the promise of a new America free of civil liberties abuses, President Obama has proven to be a more effective manipulator of the American people than his predecessors. His presidency has been defined by “kill lists,” the murder of civilians in secret drone strikes, the assassination of American citizens, the continued operation of Guantanamo Bay, the championing of warrantless surveillance of American citizens, and most recently, the funneling of arms to al-Qaeda backed rebels in Syria.

The Supreme Court. The U.S. Supreme Court – once the last refuge of justice, the one governmental body really capable of rolling back the slowly emerging tyranny enveloping America – has instead become the champion of the American police state, absolving government and corporate officials of their crimes while relentlessly punishing the average American for exercising his or her rights. Consider that in the past month alone, the justices have determined that criminal suspects, who are supposed to be treated as innocent until proven guilty, may have their DNA forcibly extracted from them by police. They have decided that staying silent while the police question you may be considered evidence of guilt, despite the Fifth Amendment’s protection against self-incrimination and the well-established “right to remain silent.” These are just two examples of a Court that, like the rest of the government, places profit, security, and convenience above our basic rights.

The Media. Of course, this triumvirate of total control would be completely ineffective without a propaganda machine provided by the world’s largest corporations. Besides shoving drivel down our throats at every possible moment, the so-called news agencies which are supposed to act as bulwarks against government propaganda have instead become the mouthpieces of the state. From championing the invasion of Iraq based upon absolute fabrications, to the fanatic support of all surveillance state policies and the demonization of whistle blowers like Edward Snowden and Bradley Manning, the pundits which pollute our airwaves are at best court jesters and at worst propagandists for the false reality created by the American government.

The American People. Of course, the most superior engine in the world still requires some form of energy to bring it to life and maintain it, and in this particular mechanism, “we the people” serve that vital function. We are the petrol that powers the motor, for good or bad. We now belong to a permanent underclass in America. It doesn’t matter what you call us – chattel, slaves, worker bees, drones, it’s all the same – what matters is that we are expected to march in lockstep with and submit to the will of the state in all matters, public and private.

Through our complicity in matters large and small, we have allowed an out-of-control corporate-state apparatus to take over every element of American society. Our failure to remain informed about what is taking place in our government, to know and exercise our rights, to vocally protest, to demand accountability on the part of our government representatives, and at a minimum to care about the plight of our fellow Americans has been our downfall. Having allowed ourselves to descend into darkness, refusing to see what is really happening, happily trading the truth for false promises of security and freedom, we have allowed the police state to emerge and to flourish.

One of the great questions about the 2012 campaign has been “Where was the tea party?” They were not the fierce force they’d been in the 2010 cycle, when Republicans took back the House. Some of us think the answer to the question is: “Targeted by the IRS, buried under paperwork and unable to raise money.”

The economist Stan Veuger, on the American Enterprise Institute‘s blog, takes the question a step further.

If you have to keep it a secret, you probably shouldn't be doing it.

But the California legislature and the new Covered California health insurance exchange are conspiring to keep secret how they will dole out more than half a billion dollars in taxpayer dollars to contractors. The lion's share of the money is going for what the exchange budget terms "outreach."

In truth, the money is going to build Democratic Party enrollment.

The Obama administration granted a whopping $910 million to California to set up its insurance exchange. That money is not for bandages, surgery, nurses and doctors to care for the sick. Nor is it for insurance plans, though $910 million could buy generous coverage for at least 113,000 people!

Shockingly, the $910 million is slated for bureaucracy, including rich compensation packages for exchange employees ($360,000 a year for the executive director) and contracts for computer equipment, public relations and "outreach."
